Former AMC executive Jeremy Elice is back in the cable business, now as a producer. Elice has launched his own production company, Elice Island Entertainment, signing a two-year, first-look cable deal with Starz.
Elice most recently headed television for Legendary Pictures. Elice joined the successful feature financier/production company behind such tentpole franchises as The Dark Knight, The Hangover and Clash Of The Titans in January 2011 when it launched a television division with a deal at Warner Bros TV. Elice exited this past summer when Legendary decided to put its TV expansion on hold, shutting shown Legendary Television.
Elice joined AMC’s original programming department in 2006 as the director of development. He was promoted to VP in 2008. Elice was involved in the development and staffing of Mad Men, brought Breaking Bad to the network and shepherded Rubicon. He also took Frank Durabont’s first pitch for The Walking Dead and played a key role in getting the project greenlighted. Lauren Ruggiero, who previously worked for Elice at Legendary and AMC, is joining him in the new company as an executive. The deal with Starz was brokered by attorney Lev Ginsburg.
