“I’m now 25 minutes closer to my life-long goal of co-hosting The View,” joked Jimmy Kimmel tonight at the show’s taping. After a decade at midnight, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live makes the move to 11:35 PM Tuesday. On his best behavior for his new slot, Kimmel didn’t slam his now direct rival Jay Leno as he has recently in a Rolling Stone interview and other media appearances. ”I know what’s at stake here, and I don’t take this responsibility lightly, especially with the Kanye West-Kim Kardashian baby on the way”, Kimmel said. “This is the time I shine bright like a diamond”. Now going head to head with The Tonight Show and Late Show With David Letterman, Kimmel kicked off his new time slot with a shiny new set plus Jennifer Aniston and No Doubt as his first guests. The former Friends star gave Kimmel a trim on the show Tuesday night (see video clip below), while No Doubt played to thousands outside the show’s Hollywood studio.

With three late-night shows in the same time slot, the battle for guests will intensify. Leno has Gangster Squad’s Emma Stone and 1600 Penn’s Josh Gad on Tuesday with garage band The Whigs back for anoher turn as musical guests. David Letterman has Brian Williams on with Morrissey as the musical guest tonight. The Late Show has Gangster Squad’s Josh Brolin on Wednesday with Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow and musical guest Ray Wylie Hubbard. On Wednesday, Kimmel has Ryan Gosling, who is also in Gangster Squad, with Brad Paisley as musical guest. Dr. Oz and LA Clippers Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are scheduled for Thursday on the ABC show.
