Universal Pictures has set a release date for Jurassic Park 4, which will be shot in 3D and come out June 13, 2014. Steven Spielberg is returning to produce the next installment of the franchise, the last of which came out in July 2001. This comes after the studio has made plans to rerelease the original Jurassic Park in a remastered 3D version in April. Spielberg, whose latest film Lincoln was just nominated for 12 Oscars, this week put his sci-fi pic Robopocalypse on hold; he was scheduled to direct that this spring, but had a new take on the project and decided to retool. There had been speculation that Spielberg would tackle the widely rumored Moses epic Gods And Kings, but this project appears to be officially on his front burner.

Here’s hoping that we see the Samuel L. Jackson’s character from the original first film back in part 4 with a robotic arm fighting an invading force of genetically engineered human-dino hybrids.
The JP franchise has the potential to be hard sci-fi with a awesome action. Here’s hoping this happens. “Hold on to yo butts” *blows away dino with cannon from mechanical arm*

You do know that Samuel L. Jackson’s character is supposed to be dead. Seeing as he never left the island at the end of the first movie, I highly doubt that he survived.
As a die hard fan of the series, I sure hope this is worth the wait. Not too pleased with the 3D gimmick, although I’m not surprised. Still waiting on who’s going to direct this (was hoping for Spielberg, but no luck I guess). As long as it’s not Joe Johnston, I’ll be satisfied.
I really rooting that this they do this film justice. I just pray that they continue using animatronics and CGI.
Did you read the article? It highlighted in blue that Speilberg is directing and then went into a paragraph about his current projects that hes moving around to go full on with this.

Amanda Silver & Rick Jaffa wrote the most current draft of “Jurassic Park 4.” If they were able to imbue some of the best aspects of “Rise of the Apes” into JP4, then it’ll definitely be worth it.
I’m pretty Spielberg is NOT directing it. He’s definitely vetting potential directors for that, that’s why he won’t go back to redeveloping “Robopocalypse” until March. We’ll probably have a director locked in by then.
They need to go back to Isla Nublar and recover Nedry’s can of shaving cream, bring the element of BioSyn and Dodgson to the franchise. The only reason I don’t want a full-on reboot is because they so perfectly cast the characters.
I hope he’s directing too and not just producing like with JURASSIC PARK III. That one was awful.

Neill and Goldblum must have at LEAST supporting roles. I’v read that they are still going to use the animatronic dinosaurs with the cg. As long as they keep that and don’t go full cg I’m fine. The writers are fantastic too. Really hopng this was worth the 13 year wait.

Produce? Yeah, forget it. It will suck. He’s just putting his name on it. It’s just another cheap cash-in. Jurassic Park only did well because of its amazing CGI. Now that it’s commonplace, it just won’t wow anyone anymore. There needs to be a plot that knocks it out of the park. Getting a director like Abrams would make this product work.

Sure, the direction of STEVEN FRICKIN’ SPIELBERG had nothing to do with it. Are you insane? CGI and other technical advances in the art of making movies mean nothing without talented directors and their amazing collaborators working together to makes something that transcends mere technology. Think of Orson Welles and Gregg Toland using deep-focus lenses to make movie history in CITIZEN KANE. Same goes for the innovations found in the landmark films of Georges Melies, Stanley Kubrick, Pixar, and James Cameron.

I hope theres an explanation around why some of the Dino’s look the way they do, ie in real life Velociraptor was about a meter tall and covered in feathers. And Dilophosaurus was about 8 feet tall (ish)
Easy to explain away. ie..
The Dinosaurs were changed from what they should be due to problems with the Frog dna
or They were purposely changed to appeal to the spectators in the park to look more how they imagined them.
Looking forward to JP 4. Hopefully a few great scenes omitted from both books will make it into it some how. My fave scene in book one was the Dinghy going gently up that river in the sun, with dilophosaurs along the banks surrounded by jungle, then ahead of them down river there’s a huge shiny dome (the aviary!) pterodactyl attack. also the T Rex attacks the Dinghy in the river by that waterfall. Wish it was filmed in the original. Also Lex riding the baby triceratops through the cornfield.
More than anything, i wanna see the Theme park return and open to the public. The last two films i liked both, but there was no PARK! open it, revamp it, put in an underwater section with giant sea dinos and Jaws 3 style glass tubes. It could be incredible as a new trilogy but one event and lots more people.

i’m kinda burnt out on JP sequels. lost world was ok, but could have been great had they not shot those silly san diego scenes. JPIII was simply awful. jurassic park is now over 20 years old, so i think its safe to re-make that film keeping it true to michael critchton’s original novel. it could be much more terrifying if they did. i for one would love to see a t-rex swim or an adult raptor eat a baby one. Or see nedrys intestines spill out when the dilophosaurus slits open his belly. no more family friendly, comedic relief scenes in JP movies please! no vince vaughns. no william macy’s. no steven speilbergs. no disappearing robot arms. no completely unbelievable ethnic differences between fathers and their daughters. no raptor making booby traps. this time…it could be flawless.
