EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of next month’s premiere of National Geographic‘s Killing Lincoln, the cable network has greenlighted Killing Kennedy, a new film from Killing Lincoln producer Scott Free about the assassination of John F Kennedy. Like Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy will be based on a book by Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly. Killing Kennedy: The End Of Camelot, O’Reilly’s latest New York Times bestseller with co-author Martin Dugard, is a follow-up to the duo’s hugely successful Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever, which has sold more than 1 million copies. The new two-hour factual drama will keep the narrative storytelling devices used by O’Reilly in the book, published in October, which recounts Kennedy’s
assassination and its impact on America. “The common parallels between Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy are astonishing, with both assassinations profoundly changing the nation during crucial moments in its history,” O’Reilly said. “While Kennedy’s assassination continues to garner many conspiracy theories, our story is based on facts — some that haven’t been publicly known. And with National Geographic Channel and Scott Free once again at the helm, I have the utmost trust and faith that they will bring the story of Kennedy and Camelot to life.” Casting on the two-hour film, which will combine historical insights and archives with dramatic storytelling in the signature style of the Scott brothers, is expected to begin shortly for a sprint start of production. “Collaborating with National Geographic on Bill O’Reilly’s follow-up was an easy decision,” said Scott Free principal Ridley Scott. “They share the same passion of storytelling, willing to take creative leaps and risks to keep viewers entertained to tell the provocative story of Kennedy’s last days, a pivotal and historic moment.”
Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy are part of National Geographic Channel’s new emphasis on narrative historical programming under president Howard T. Owens. In the fall, the network picked up its first feature film, John Stockwell’s SEAL Team Six, which premiered to 2.7 million viewers, Nat Geo’s largest audience of 2012. “With the tremendous success of SEAL Team Six, our first feature film, and the growing excitement over this February’s premiere of Killing Lincoln, producing Bill O’Reilly’s follow-up was a no-brainer and will be yet another story that will resonate with our audience,” said Owens, adding that the network is “claiming a stake in producing factual dramas, delivering entertainment with substance.” The special will premiere globally on the National Geographic Channel in 171 countries and 38 languages. Here is a teaser for Killing Lincoln starring Billy Campbell as the slain 16th US President and narrated by Tom Hanks.

Right. So anotherwords, the same old rehashing of the Warren Commission fairytale. Americans, and the rest of the world, are much smarter than that. Ahem…it’s not 1964 anymore Mr. Scott, Riley, and Nat Geo. Rather tragic that the “Spin Zone” is still alive and well. Unfortunately, nobody with a brain buys what you’re selling.
“…nobody with a brain buys what you’re selling.”???
You’ve clearly never heard of the New York Times Best Seller List. You should check it out before making claims that make you look massively uninformed.
Massively uninformed? Is that like hugely retarded? O’Reilly. Watch his off-air rant on early ‘Inside Edition’ and wonder no more. Am praying for you, Bill. Come back over to The Good Side One Last Time.

FYI “Indrid”: The only ones who bought O’Reilly’s terrible book are the same mouthbreathers who buy into his television show. I read about three pages of the book and quickly realized it was not only written at a sixth grade reading level, but they were in fact the true target audience: kids who don’t know their history…their TRUE history. The book is brainwashing at its finest, courtesy of Shill O’Reilly, who will dance to whatever tune his corporate Mockingbird master$ play.
It’s just a shame that someone as intelligent as Ridley Scott would be mixed up with such Warren Commission drivel. Too bad for O’Reilly that the majority of Americans have learned the difference between Fact and Fiction when it comes to the JFK assassination. And the Warren Commission is nothing but fiction…and so is O’Reilly’s literary equivalent of a coloring book.
I also read the book: It is the Kennedy Assassination for Dummies. How bad does Ridley Scott need a paycheck – or better yet, how far up the anus of the intelligence community is Ridley Scott dwelling. Unreal. What did they do, threaten to deport him like Piers Morgan? Dark day for American truth and justice. NatGeo has become the go-to network for all things promoting the intelligence community and now Ridley Scott is in bed with Bill O’Reilly? Wake me up when this nightmare is over. The ghost of Bush still haunts the land…
I’m confused. I had a small part in LINCOLN, and I was in KILLING LINCOLN too. The script is WAY different from O’Reilly’s book. The dude is getting away with murder.
Another shameful project for Tom Hanks. What has happened to him? His productions used to be truthful. Now he’s tossed away his reputation with his redefining history.
National Geographic channel is a farce. Why does Ridley Scott do this trash? Can someone please answer this for me? It can’t be the “money.” At this stage of his life, shouldn’t he concentrate on squeezing out one more quality film? I mean, a real film. Calling this docu-drama sheet a film is degrading the definition. I realize this is his production company’s endeavor…but….still…
I know Fox News has taken over NatGeo and there is probably a lot of easy money being poured into this deal, but…still…

You oughta wait to see KILLING LINCOLN before you judge. Like I said, it’s WAY different from the book and I think it’s gonna be pretty cool. It’s not what your thinking. I haven’t seen Tom Hanks narration, but I read it and it’s better than any other Lincoln project I’ve seen or worked on.
I’ll keep an open mind. Thanks.
And of course now that I said it didn’t, it came up. Sorry.
Revisionist history for sure. O’Reilly wouldn’t know truth if it hit him
By associating itself with lying David Barton-wannabee O’Reilly, National Geographic is providing Time Warner Cable with the best reason yet to drop it.
I just wanted to thank Randal for introducing “anotherwords” into the vernacular. You just made my day.
A made up word for a discussion on made up history – seems appropriate.
I’ve watched the documentary each passing year and I believe the film will be honored by many …whose hearts are still torn between, reading about it and watching the documentary. I can’t wait ….congratulations!
Indrid, I often tune into the O’Reilly show right at the very end to listen to the E-mails, and not once does he fail to mention that his books are on the best seller list. Some how all of his good deeds, seem tarnished by his bragging, and he never fails to let the public know about all of his good deeds either.
Nat Geo has a great variety of interesting and informative true programs Bill OReilly&The Factor is my & my husband’s favorite totally “fair & Balanced” no-nonsensed “stick to the issue” we’ve seen.. our blessings for OReilly!
Let me guess, Obama did it. Why is Ridley Scott involved with this trash? This is what happens when film directors work in TV. That’s why he couldn’t figure out Prometheus.
Can someone explain the revisionist history here, or does this faux anger have more to do with hating o’reilly for an opposing political view
Actually, O’Reilly, when he was a reporter, was on the trail of the assassins. He pursued J.Walton Moore of the CIA to his office door in Dallas and also George de Mohrenschildt until his death. When or why O’Reilly converted to a Lone Nutter is the question. His reportorial instincts were correct. I guess his politics somewhere along the line got in the way.
I’ve had contact with the cameraman O’Reily hired when he was attempting to interview DeMohrenschildt in Florida. DeM died before they got the chance to talk to him, and he said the inquest into the death was a joke. He asked me to act intermediary to O’Reilly. He wanted to offer his services with any investigations he could make for the book, as he hoped like we all did, it would be a return to journalistic form for the Fox talking head. Why he thought I might have any sway on Bill is a mystery, but as I figured would be the case, I never received any replies.
Please watch the whole show, you might learn something. It’s never too late.
The Amazon.com review of the book generated over 600 replies. Over 80% of them viciously attack this book and its author. I think the reason why he wrote this book and now the film is because this year is the 50th year of the assassination and there will be many books attacking the Warren Commission. It means that 90% of the public according to polls do not believe in the Oswald story and the establishment is desperate to fight back with this book and film. But they are wasting their time if they think they will change anybody’s mind.
I’m confused as to who you are and why you’re posing as Richmond Kid.
I like Bill O’Reilly and his book killing Lincoln was interesting to a degree but Killing Kennedy was a comedy of errors. I knew I was going to be disappointed when he states on page 15 “Oswald was a crack shot in the military”. Many men who spent time in a shooting environment with Oswald stated for the public record that he was very inept with a rifle. Marine Nelson Delgado said that Oswald was constantly being reprimanded for failing to clean his rifle and always getting Maggie’s drawers. James Persons, who also served in Oswald’s Marine Corp basic training unit, said that he was a poor shot who probably suffered from a coordination problem which most likely left Oswald unable to drive a car even in his twenties. And Sherman Cooley said that when Oswald failed to qualify on the target range everyone was giving him holy hell. Cooley also said that if given the choice of having anyone in the entire United States fire at him he would pick Lee H. Oswald because he was such a bad shot. Even Pavel Golovachev in Russia said that Oswald rarely attended practice sessions at the hunting club where he belonged and when he did he failed to hit the target even once. O’Reilly also states on page 157 that with the Walker shooting “Oswald’s hiding spot is just forty yards away.” Walker is sitting in his study going over his 1962 tax forms. But despite the fact that Walker is so close and Oswald has a significant amount of time to shoot Walker he misses. Yet somehow Oswald manages to kill Kennedy months later despite his having, according to the Warren Commission, 5.6 seconds at a moving target at a greater distance where Oswald hits his target twice. Two of these shots prove to be accurate and deadly. There are numerous errors throughout the book, and I believe that a much better book to read is Henry Hurt’s Reasonable Doubt which documents much of what is stated here.
