EXCLUSIVE: Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures have set Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier to script the next installment of The Terminator franchise.
Her credits include Avatar, Shutter Island and Alexander, produced White House Down. Lussier scripted Wes Craven’s Dracula and directed My Bloody Valentine. Skydance’s David Ellison recently hired the scribes to write an original scifi adventure film, with an idea initiated by Skydance. Megan Ellison paid a fortune for the rights several years ago, and recently teamed with brother David, whose company finds big ticket action films like Terminator to be in its wheelhouse. David, who just produced Jack Reacher, had the relationship with the scribes, though interestingly Kalogridis also is tight with Terminator creator James Cameron. Megan Ellison is in the thick of the Oscar race with Zero Dark Thirty and The Master.

Great writers? The woman that wrote Pocahontas Dances with Wolves in Ferngully? I was all excited about this news until I actually read their credits.
This could be interesting if they do something original and not just try to remake the first one or continue with the same old John Connor storyline. The graphic novels had a number of very cool stories that took place in that universe (I especially like the one set in Russia). It’s a cool universe to play with…
The problem is it doesn’t matter where in the “universe” it takes place the story is the same and bogged down by the same time travel traps and tropes.
The only story and I mean only story that would do this franchise and fans any justice would be a finish, the humans either win it or not but it should end.

Also, why not credit the writers or producers listed for the original films they’ve written, produced? Why go to an article about a franchise film to cry out for original ideas?
Alien, Jaws, Jurassic Park and Terminator. All of them should have ended after two films.

The remake of My Bloody Valentine was a complete mess. The twist at the end made zero sense.
we want to see the full on war and the end of it. not time travel again and present times. even if t4 was average, they should have stayed the course and follow up on the planned trilogy. i remember the sequel to t4 would have been the war we saw depicted in the first films and the t6 the end of it
Time Travel presents many many ways to get out of the crap they put themselves in. Maybe another “Good” Terminator can go back to the first film and kill Arnold and in doing so creates a new timeline and characters for new adventures.
Either way, the TV show was better than parts 3 and 4.
not Laeta Kalogridis, please. im sure she is a cool lady, but she was also responsible for a lot of disasters. anyone remember the tv series “birds of prey”? no? how about the new “bionic woman”? or oliver stone’s “alexander”? she is fine as long as she aint in charge of it all by herself, i guess – but please dont let her do it by herself. i am stunned that she is still able to score jobs after so many flops, good luck to her regardless. she must be very well connected

so, show the war 2029, showing the capture of machine-time with scenes of sending in the past Risa and robots, and show the sending of John mark SKYNET 2 who moved in..2104 year, and John in the future with the help of an uninfected Dronov fights with attacked by the Central computer which has engulfed the virus Skynet 2..
Yes and hit Skynet-2 can be destroying the core of the program in its essence (the style of johnny mnemonic, the lawnmower man) and all of these virtual battles take place against the background of a real war synthetic future year 2104 ad.

All those people who say the story should end have no imagination. Many many things are possible. It doesn’t always have to be a fight with Skynet. It could be tracking down rogue and sentient t-888 or tok-715 models. They make good infiltrators and can marry too.
You name it, it’s possible.
Imagine setting up Skynet 200 or 300 years in the past by sending back special cyborgs which need to be stopped.
It’s good that there are billionaires like Megan Ellison who come to Hollwood with cash. The public gets to see a lot of films that might not have otherwise been made, since, overall, it’s a losing proposition for most. This makes it a good expensive hobby for those that can afford it.. I just hope she has sense to leave Hollywood if she burns through most of her cash, with negative returns on her money. Or at least slow down. A billion can go quick in Hollywood with all the hands out, And the sharks will be eager to lavish praise on her, seduce her to part her of her funds. At 26, still a baby, she’s shark chum. Hopefully, she’ll be one of the lucky ones, like Tisch. I’m guessing her super smart dad is keeping a watchful eye on it.
Think, what is it that made you all so interested to make all these comments? This will be a big grossing movie. Now think about what made the franchise a hit in the first place? Great story and exiqution with unique effects.
I think that they should let the franchise end. Let the hunans win!
