The Apprentice star Donald Trump was a constant lighting rod for controversy during the recent presidential campaign with his birther obsession and outrageous comments and Twitter rants against everyone from President Obama and the GOP to Rosie O’Donnell. With all that baggage, is NBC sticking with Trump and has the net asked him to tone his rhetoric down? “We live in this country where you can say anything you want as long as you are not harming other people,” NBC chief Bob Greenblatt said during the NBC TCA executive session. “He has his political belief system but I really don’t think what he’s doing in his personal life is going to corrupt what he’s doing on the show.” However, “if he becomes somehow hurtful and says or does things that cross a line, we would figure out what to do with that.” Added NBC’s head of reality Paul Telegdy, who oversees The Apprentice, “It just comes with the Donald Trump territory, he keeps a lot of publicists very very busy.” NBC already played a role in protecting America from even more Trump in the public space. “We talked him out of running for president, wasn’t’ that good enough?,” Greenblatt said.

I will NOT be watching The Apprentice in any form, Celebrity or otherwise. I used to watch because I enjoy the competition. However, Trump and his need to “go after” anyone with an opposite point of view is disgusting. There is nothing wrong with having an opposing view but he resorts to name calling and insults like a 3rd grader. DONE.
Boy, did you get THAT right. What kind of celebrity willingly puts themselves in a position to be berated by, and lectured to, by that guy and his children? A desperate celebrity, that’s who.
I won’t and haven’t watched apprentice or anything that involves Donald trump…he is proof that money and class don’t necessarily go hand in hand!
Dam!!!!!
No similar concerns seem to arise when the stars of TV shows espouse lunacy from the left. Gotta love the double standard.
Bill Maher lost his show for comments he made during the Bush years. I don’t recall outrage on the right for him losing his job for speaking his mind.
Wrong. Bill Maher lost his ABC show because nobody was watching it. His comment about the 9/11 hijackers–that they were more “courageous” than the U.S. military because they didn’t launch missiles from afar–that lovely sentiment may have brought more attention to Maher’s departure, but it didn’t cause it.
EXACTLY, Francis-dont hear any network execs, or movie bigwigs getting all nervous and antsy when one of their A-list morons spews out any of their anti-Republican or US rant!
wow what pathetic judgement on NBC’s part
Interesting how NBC has no problem with Ellen Barkin and her ilk going on foul mouthed bigoted Twitter tirades and wishing death by natural disaster on people because they have a differing viewpoint on politics.
I’m not a fan of The Trump. So I don’t watch his show. Problem solved.
Wow, “The Apprentice” is still on?
I was never a fan of the show or Trump. Oh, and how weak are you Greenblatt: We talked him out of running for president, wasn’t’ that good enough?” … As if Americans would be foolish enough to vote for this fool. …Oh, and by the way, NBC does have its head up its ass. …The programming, overall, is still extremely poor. Other than SUV and Grimm, they’ve got nothing going on in primetime.
Why doesn’t donald just sit down, shut up, and do as he’s told? After all, he’s only an employee. Easily replaced, believe me….and bigger ratings await once he’s gone.
OK Greenie let’s see this “Line.” Spell it out. Write it down. Otherwise this is all Gas. A big “Fart Joke.” You couldn’t define right from wrong if your reputation depended on it.
And remember, if you can limit “The Twimp” you also limit all your other idiots with that same “Line.”
Where are “The Smothers Brothers” when you need them.
This show is a wig wreck!
Donald Trump has revived a lot of celebrities careers thru his “Apprentice show”. I sing him praises…..
Trump has already crossed the line he tweeted numerous times on election night that he no longer believes in democracy he thinks the country has gone to hell because Obama won. NBC should have cancelled his shitty show the day after election night. He’s an arrogant obnoxious egomaniac and there are other shows that can do better than Apprentice can at a much lower cost. Fire Trump and hire some other entrepeneur to continue the show and get rid of the stupid celebs it was better with regular people competing.
I don’t understand why Donald thinks he is GOD or some higher being? He is allowed to express his opinions (paid by NBC) He inherited his wealth and lost it in bankruptcy, Why would he be allowed to hire and fire employees?
Please fire Trump. He is crossed the line from “fun to watch” to hateful. I for one will no longer watch The Apprentice until he is replaced.
Trump and g. w. bush are fortunate sons who without daddy’s money would be average sales clerks at Walmart.
