Veteran NBC executive Doug Vaughan has been promoted to EVP Special Programs and Late Night Programming. Vaughan, who continues to report to Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, will add NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jay Leno to his purview, in addition to previous oversight of Saturday Night Live, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Last Call With Carson Daly. Based in New York, Vaughan is also responsible for all NBC specials and will now serve as a liaison between the News and Entertainment divisions. “Doug is in a league of his own when it comes to putting together and nurturing NBC’s entertaining and successful brand of specials,” said Telegdy.  Most recently, Vaughan oversaw the “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together telethon, which raised a record amount of funds, and last Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, which scored the awards franchise’s highest ratings in six years. Vaughan has been SVP Special Programs and Late Night since November 2011. Earlier, he served as SVP Special Programs and Alternative, starting in 2007; and as VP Special Programs, News and Entertainment, beginning in 2005. From 1993-2002, Vaughan was a producer on NBC’s Today.
