The first trailer has dropped for Olympus Has Fallen. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman, Olympus Has Fallen has a storyline very similar to White House Down, the Sony Pictures film that stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, with Roland Emmerich directing. Both are Die Hard-in-the-White House-style dramas where the building is overtaken by terrorists and it’s up to a Secret Service agent to save the president. Olympus Has Fallen is slated for a March 22 release.

Looks pretty funny.
2013 movie with 1994 CGI Effects
And a 1988 plot!
Is Gerard Butler doing a parody of Bruce Willis?
“Mustang this is big top, bringing out the full package.” Seriously…
Surprising amount of dodgy CGI as well. And in the last 25 years, has any of these ‘Die Hard’ clones actually been good? Even ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ had more life than this trailer, which seems to reveal the entire plot of the film.
I’m just going to settle into this post with some popcorn and watch the comment section come alive with nothing but praise for this soon-to-be masterpiece.
They couldn’t wait until the CGI was finished? The CGI WASN’T finished, right?
WHD is a better script. OHF is winning the footrace, but it better work on that CGI.
This looks like the greatest movie ever made.
Beyond sarcasm, deep into irony. My respect to you, Sir.
This makes Playing For Keeps look like Terms of Endearment.
This looks bad. Couldn’t they at least put some money in for better CGI? Those awful looking shots took me right out of it. Of course, the fact it wasn’t John McClane also took me right out of it.
I don’t understand why writers (or re-writers as the case may very well be) keep throwing in the line “The United States of America doesn’t negotiate with terrorists,” when they absolutely do, pretty much on a daily basis.
This looks over the top fun….how many movies are being made/have been made about Presidents/White House under attack?
There is a third film with a similar storyline. It is “Emperor Fallen”. It is the story of terrorists kidnapping Arnold, but no one comes forward to either pay the ransom or rescue him. They are still working on an ending, but so far nothing seems to be taking shape.
i hope you dont think you’re clever or funny
Apparently not to you. That’s a fun part being facetious and/or sarcastic… knowing some won’t find it so.
Nice metaphor for the former Governor’s film career.
fuqua has made utter shit since training day. how does he keep getting to make big movies?
The samy way Orci and Kurtzman keep getting work. The same way Uwe Boll keeps finding backers. Because in Tinseltown it’s common to fail upwards.
Fuqua isn’t a bad director, but man he has not lived up to his potential and worst of all he lacks the ability to elevate the material he gets.
And the CGI looks like pure crap. Made-for-TV level stuff.
This trailer is great it looks like a lot of fun I’m excited to see it.
This looks bad and I can’t wait.
Rick Yune is the best looking guy in the movie – he should be the star.
Hope for Butler’s sake this does okay
Oh God. So laughable. So ridiculous, so 90-th. That movie came out straight on 1990, along with Van Damme, John McClane and all those other protagonists who saved the world by themselves.
And Gerard Butler is the worst. So laughable. So unbelievable. Even Kevin Costner looked better and cooler as Bodyguard. But Gerald…. So-so embarrassingly bad. Who casts him& Who hires him? Why? He has zero box-office appeal. He looks here like some 16 years old kid, who is fan of James Bond and has filmed himself as brave hero.
This looks like parody. I wanted to laugh every time when Gerald appeared with : “I’m sad, brave, serious, heartbroken hero. I hate this job. But I don’t have choice. Fate of the mankind has fallen in my hands. It’s my duty. I will save everyone. I will run through fire, bullets will go past me and then I will defeat villain” look.
What is the budget? Because it will bomb so hard.
Ok, you clearly don`t like action movies, and we get it from your first few lines; but the fact that you badmouth a great actor and continue writing nasty lies and bash him for no reason, shows your lack of class and stability in proving your point. What you are is a true old fashioned hater. Next time, please keep your “opinions” to yourself and let us enjoy the movie.
Gerard Butler has been poison for years. A great actor? Where are his award medals then? The only people who still root for him are a few fat, middle-aged mommies
How can you make a comment on a movie you haven’t even seen? First off. Get the mans name right! This movie looks to be one of the better films put out in a long time. Or are you one of those people that prefer low buget garbage? Mr. Butler is in my opinon a great Actor to play this role. Honest, and down to earth. But your not use to that I suppose? The cast is superb!!! Wait till you SEE the movie befor you comment on it.
Some of the worst CGI FX I’ve ever seen!! Disgraceful!!
Did this exact thing happen during the final season of 24? the White House taken over by terrorists, the president held captive and it’s up to ex-special forces Jack Bauer to save the day?
The second to last season of 24 actually?
And so what? It’s a great idea and completely possible the the filmmakers came up with it on their own?
Do you just wanna show off how observant you are or are you actually going to boycott it?
Ashley Judd is one lucky lady. She gets to leave after the first act.
I think it looks awesome! Can’t wait!
More like “air force one” in the whitehouse
Looks awful.
I predict this will do very well overseas.
Agreed.
It won’t. Not at all. Really. And those who do go to see it will be rooting for the bad guys anyway.
You know how Mr. LittleJeans can’t stop laughing at Max’s Vietnam play at the end of “Rushmore?” Me right now watching this trailer.
I think the state of the movie business, or should I say ‘movie star’ business is over. When movies like Zero Dark 30 are so compelling with actors that feel real – how are we supposed to watch a Gerard Butler save the White House…..
