Los Angeles – Oprah Winfrey’s exclusive no-holds-barred interview with Lance Armstrong, “Oprah and Lance Armstrong: The Worldwide Exclusive,” has expanded to air as a two-night event on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. The special episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” will air Thursday, January 17 from 9-10:30 p.m. ET/PT (as previously announced) and Friday, January 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The interview will be simultaneously streamed LIVE worldwide both nights on Oprah.com.
Following the interview which taped in Austin, Texas on Monday, January 14, Winfrey tweeted: Just wrapped with @lancearmstrong More than 2 1/2 hours. He came READY!
Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, years of accusations of cheating and charges of lying about the use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career. Winfrey speaks with Armstrong in the only interview since the seven-time Tour de France winner was stripped of his titles and dropped from millions of dollars in endorsement deals after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released an extensive report accusing the renowned cyclist of doping throughout his career. Armstrong was given a lifetime ban on competing professionally. Late last year, Armstrong resigned as chairman of the foundation he created, Livestrong, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in the fight against cancer.

The man has done way too much good for his legacy to be tarnished forever. This too shall pass, I hope, and he can continue to do good.
I don’t care, unless Armstrong is going to confess to being a werewolf, transform live on air and gobble Oprah up.
Exactly! I’m with Barry. And, no one’s legacy should be another’s commodity to tarnished.
Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone or Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; are we without understanding? If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
As a Christian, I agree with the Scripture although I don’t know if many people’s feeling toward Armstrong is one of hatred as it is a certain level of indifference.
Armstrong is a liar and a bully who hasn’t really “confessed” to anything. He was caught and punished. Now he’s choosing to acknowledge that those who pointed it out were being truthful. There is a difference. People reap what they sow and I think Armstrong is going through the consequences of his actions. Either way, it doesn’t make me hate the guy or totally support him. I just hope he uses this experience to better himself as a human being. I speak from experience as one who went through something similar to Armstrong, although only on a different scale.
Why am I not surprised??
Jessica, you are nuts.
Poor Lance. His brain is so drug-addled he still believes Oprah is relevant.
Thank God, Oprah is not Peter Jackson. If she were… this interview would be spread over three 3 hour nights.
And, for those who want to give Armstrong a break because of all the money he has raised charging cyclists up to $25,000 just to ride with him…don’t think so. Armstrong lived and covered up a highly complex plan to avoid getting caught doping. Did anyone EVER really believe one man could win SEVEN Tour de France races without doping???
I am not much on forgiving a person who built his charitable efforts on lies and deceit….over and over and over.
FTCS, you really hit the nail on the head – it’s all fruit from a poisionous tree.
I miss the days when you needed evidence to be proven guilty… you know like a positive drug test DURING YOUR CAREER.
Brian,
Does this mean that if one is not caught and proven guilty while doing the crime that the statute for limitations expires? Armstrong was just better at cheating, but was a cheater just the same. It took a great deal of time and many others to come forward to prove that Armstrong was the Don of cheating drug tests.
There is nothing honorable about Lance Armstrong. He cheated…it has been corroborated by many others who also admitted cheating. Lance Armstrong and Michael Milken are cut from the same cloth, and both built philanthropic careers through lies, cheating and in Milken’s case stealing the money from investors.
Sure, folks deserve a second chance, but they should not be forgotten as the scum bags they once were.
Apparently Lance Armstrong can backpedal faster than he does going forward.
A well said and fitting observation on the situation. Funny too!
He lied and lied and lied! I have no respect for him at all anymore. It’s too late now. He filed lawsuits he was being “picked on” to get out of it. He hid from drug testers. HE CHEAYED AND LIED. HE DESERVES NOTHING!!!
I meant to say HE CHEATED!!!!
