Disney unveiled a special look at its Oz The Great And Powerful last night during the SAG Awards, part of a full-court press campaign ahead of the pic’s March 8 premiere. That push includes a separate tease for an ad that will play during the Super Bowl. Here’s the clip from last night — they’ve packed quite a bit into one minute and it’s the best look yet at the Sam Raimi movie:

Seriously? This is why the film industry sucks so bad and box office numbers blow. Crappy casting in a big budget quasi-cartoon with a big shot director that no one will go see. Kids will hate it, adults will hate it, and it will bomb. I love James Franco. I love Michelle Williams. But give me a break with this bloated piece of Hollywood twaddle. I’m usually pissed off that the casting director is not listed in the billing block, but in this case, who ever that is is lucky beyond belief.
And isn’t ironic that the 74 year old original Wizard has better special effects than this bloated juggernaut?
Disappointed is an understatement.

What on earth are you talking about and have you actually SEEN this movie to make this ridiculous statement. How do you know kids will hate it, adults will hate it, and it will bomb? We await the box office numbers total but I’m hoping for a monster hit, especially since it’s following L. Frank Baum books more.
I know the precious Wizard of Oz is loved by many, including me but I think this will also hit the mark as a prequel, since they built several live sets too and not just based on special effects.
Plus, the special effects looks cool. I’m going to trust in Sam Raimi and all involved before I make my final assessment but hoping for another classic.
I seriously, can’t wait to see this, from what I’ve seen so far it looks magical hence the facebook page is growing in excitement.
I’m pleased that they have “borrowed” the look of the classic “Wizard of OZ.” Sam Raimi is a gifted director who has proven that he can deliver a great cinema experience. I am looking forward to this film and I’m hopeful that we’ll get the chance to see more of L. Frank Baum’s stories brought to the screen.
The original post was simply the work of a malcontent.
Your joking with “make another classic” right? Since the late 80′s Holly-tard stopped churning classics. Instead you have one hit wonders. Get real with your post. Quality has gone down in film making. Ideas have fizzled, and have you seen the computerized witch? I can make one better at home. This is a film for fashion designers since thats all they seem to really focus on. Mila Kunis is a horrendous actress who screams pretending to actually be angry. She will always remind me of Family guy. I saw this film at a screening, and it actually looks like a Thomas Kinkade painting. FAKE! FAKE! FAKE!!! It will flop. Mark my words. This is another version of Alice in Wonderland. Its too much! They have technology used up in the ass, and the quality of the film depends more on visual effects then actors. Gee, what a new trend that seems to be pfhhh. Hollywood will lose big, and Mila Kunis can go back to where she needs to be scrubbing toilets.
Looks to be the first great movie of 2013….700 million world wide boxoffice!
ZapBob
Being Jan 28th…umm…no one has seen it. I just saw it at the big screening. This movie sucks.
You are clearly delusional if you think this amazing looking trailer is going to be anything but a huge success. The most recent trailer I saw on tv was good, but the very first trailer they put out, which was slick, magical, intense, and visually stunning, is the one that will have droves of adults with children selling out theaters weeks in advance. This looks to be a worldwide phenomenon.
Amazing looking trailers is all Hollywood is capable of these days. Full length movies, not so much.
Awesome. Love it. A fabulous movie that will make a ton of money for Disney. Raimi continues his amazing and modest career. He never asks for “A Sam Raimi Film” credit which speaks volumes about his modesty. Every other director in the world demands and gets “a film by” credit but not Sam. He never took that on his Spider-Man movies and idiot Laura Ziskin looked stupid with such a credit. Now again here Sam lets the producers look like egotistical morons and all Sam takes is his required DGA “directed by” credit at the very bottom.
You can’t be serious! This movie is going to make $$$$$$$$$$$$$.
Troll!!!!!
How is this the best look, when they’ve already shown all this footage before?
This movie looks so good!! Can’t wait!
Not at all interested to say the least!!! My childhood memories of the aults and the children of now will forever be puzzled that WHY ARE WE REMAKING FILMS??? Have we lost all OUR UNIQUE THOUGHTS and GRATIFY of which comes to NO LEADERSHIP , just FOLLOWERS?!?!?! REALITY isn’t the TRUTH::: its the ANIMATION of MINFULness….Faith, dream, live LOVE xx DEUXLOVE
“Full court press”
Really? Disney has done nothing to market this. The few materials released to date have all be subpar. I can’t imagine the tracking on this is any good.
I love me some Franco! This movie is going to be huuuuuuge
HUGE FLOP!! LMAO!!!
