Police shot an armed domestic violence suspect inside a San Diego theater Saturday afternoon. The man had entered the theater to hide following an argument with his girlfriend in the parking lot across the street. The woman’s employer saw the altercation and called 911. Arriving quickly, officers swarmed the parking lot searching for the suspect. Upon learning he had gone into the theater, police entered the Reading Cinemas Carmel Mountain 12 where they confronted suspect Tom Billodeaux, 20, of Escondido sitting in an auditorium where Les Miserables was showing. The suspect initially raised his hands then lowered them, police said, and when he raised them again he was holding a gun and an officer shot him. The suspect then surrendered and was taken into custody. He is hospitalized with wounds in his chest and one arm and is expected to survive. The shooting occurred a day after an employee at a San Marcos movie theater was injured by a stray shot fired in the parking lot during a gang fight and six months after a gunman killed 12 moviegoers and wounded 58 others in an Aurora, Colo theater.
