President Obama, meet President Gilcrist. The real U.S. President will be hosting the cast and crew of NBC’s 1600 Penn tomorrow afternoon for a screening of the new White House comedy series. It will be the culmination of a day of promotional activities for the 1600 Penn team in Washington DC that will include a screening and panel at the National Press Club and a guided tour of the White House before the cast and crew meet Obama at 4:45 PM for a screening and reception. Obama will be joined by his speechwriting team; a former member of the team, Jon Lovett, co-created and executive produces 1600 Penn alongside star Josh Gad and director Jason Winer. The series, which debuts Thursday, centers on President Gale Gilchrist (Bill Pullman), his second wife Emily (Jenna Elfman) and his brood, led by son Skip (Gad).

This guy NEVER works…dang.
Here’s some material for Seth Macfarlane:
Peter: “This is more demanding than being the President”

Based on nothing more than the NBC TV promos this new show looks dreadful. The Obama angle just makes the whole thing even more unbearable.
1600 Penn is a real stinker. It’s a multi-cam in the clothes of a single cam and the ‘family’ has no connection whatsoever. The kid is really funny and should be the lead.
Oh no, Obama! You were a Parks & Rec fan! Whuhhapp’nd?
You got that one right, but I fear you’re getting this one very very wrong.
This whole show is a circus. I’ve rarely seen so much promotion from so many different angles for a show. It’s all about how and who is making the sausage instead of the sausage. That should tell you something right there. And if you’ve seen the pilot and the additional episodes that were pre-screened, you know why.
The pilot aired a few weeks ago. My family & I enjoyed it. Clever writing & funny acting. I’ll watch more episodes.
Better you then me.
Were you paid to watch it?
Based on actually watching the pilot, this show looks solidly funny.
If they’re able to keep the irreverence … and the no-they-didn’t sting some of the jokes had in the pilot, the show will perform well.
I guess no one notices the irony of 1600 Penn having a WHITE president who look very Romney like. Bizarre considering we have an African-American president who is in the middle of EIGHT years. Oh, but I guess it would be politically incorrect to portray an AA president’s family as a bunch of idiots. Based on the ratings from the preview, it will be DOA, which is a good thing.
Gotta put a big ol’ flaming homo in it for demographics. And what, no White House screening of “The First Family”? SHAME ON YOU OBAMA
“The First Family” is so bad it could be considered an act of terrorism.
haha, can you imagine the comments here if he had done this for “The First Family”.
