Patti Page, the legendary pop singer whose musical success spawned several television series of her own in the 1950s, has died. Page passed away on New Year’s Day in Encinitas, CA, at age 85. She had more than 100 chart hits during her decades-long career, including such pop classics as “(How Much Is That) Doggie In The Window”, “Old Cape Cod” and “Tennessee Waltz”. She was a regular on several music and variety shows during television’s Golden Age, including The Ed Sullivan Show and The Steve Allen Show. Those led to a Patti Page special on ABC, and later to consecutive series of her own on all three major networks; she was nominated for an Emmy in 1959 for ABC’s Patti Page Show. She also starred in Scott Music Hall Presents Patti Page, a summer replacement series on NBC that gave birth to the twice-weekly syndicated Oldsmobile Presents — Patti Page. Page also ventured into acting, with a role on the CBS series Playhouse 90, and later she made her big-screen debut in 1960′s Elmer Gantry. Most recently, The Recording Academy announced Page was a recipient of its Special Merit Awards as a Lifetime Achievement Award honoree.

I’ll always dance with you, my darlin…..
You and Doris got me through some tough times when I was a sad little gay boy.
RIP
The definition of ‘legend’ is Patti Page.
Thank you, Patti, for gracing the American (and global) music landscape with your wonderful talent and voice.
Condolences to your family and fans.
RIP
I had the pleasure of seeing Miss Page sing the Tennessee Waltz at a halftime show at Neyland Stadium just a few years ago. The University of Tennessee and the Pride of the Southland Marching band use the Tennessee Waltz quite a bit so if you’re a Vol of any age, you know the song. It was a thrill. Hard song to sing and she still could. She will be missed.
She grew up a few miles from my home and was one of 11 children. She had a difficult time and was a beautiful woman. In an era before celebs were arrested on a regular basis and went into rehab once a year. A talented, classy lady.
I grew up listenning to Patti Page and will miss her dearly. Iiked many of her songs, but the one that got to me was,The Tennesse Waltzs. All of her fans will miss her so dearly and will be missed.
Tennessee Waltz was such a wonderful song to listen to. Patti will be missed.
Patti Page was a true icon. One of the greats. She will be missed.
