The thriller Queen Of The Night stars Ryan Reynolds as the father of an abducted daughter who uncovers a series of disturbing clues eight years later that suggest she is still alive. Rosario Dawson will play the detective in charge of the investigation, and they race against time to rescue the imprisoned girl before the trail goes cold. Dawson joins Scott Speedman and Mireille Enos in the pic, which Atom Egoyan co-wrote with David Fraser and is directing. Principal photography begins next month in Ontario. Ego Film Arts and The Film Farm are producing.
Dawson, repped by CAA and Untitled, is underway reprising her role in the sequel Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. She just wrapped Parts Per Billion alongside Josh Hartnett, Penn Badgley and Frank Langella. Her upcoming films include Diego Luna’s biopic Chavez and Danny Boyle’s Trance.

Yummy!
The logline sounds painfully generic but with Egoyan at the helm I hope it turns out to be a much more complex ride.
Egoyan is enormously underrated and seemingly forgotten by the new students who are studying direction and filmmaking in general. All of his early films up to and including The Sweet Hereafter, even the odd metered Calendar, is wonderful as all of those films possess an incredibly unique aesthetic. The Adjuster, Exotica, Speaking Parts, are all just killer fucking movies. If you are not familiar w these films, get acquainted, man. You will not be disappointed. Filmmakers like Herzog and Egoyan, when you first discover them, its so much fun and exciting starting from the beginning of their filmography and then go up, up, up. Nothing more rewarding for a lover/student of cinema.
Anybody heard about Devil’s Knot’s prospects? Why can’t it find a distributor? Is it because of the controversial theme or is it because the film is bad, quality-wise?
