Roseanne Barr has signed a deal with NBC and Universal TV to develop a comedy series — a starring vehicle for the Roseanne alumna — which she will executive produce with Steven Greener. The two previously collaborated on Barr’s Lifetime reality series Roseanne’s Nuts. Additionally, Barr is doing a three-episode arc on the final season of the NBC/Uni TV comedy series The Office. She will play talent agent Carla Fern who agrees to help office manager Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) realize his show business dream. Filming of her episodes is set to begin this week. Last season, Paradigm-repped Barr developed a multi-camera comedy at 20th TV, Downwardly Mobile, which landed at NBC with penalty and went to pilot.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Nellie, since you only mentioned develop a comedy I guess she won’t be in it? I wish her the best. Somebody should have picked up that show with her & Goodman. Maybe this comedy she develops will be a multi-cam? I’m so sick of CBS & their multicams. Maybe Nbc should try & beat them at their own game. Only problem-the Nbc brand is in the toilet. Many fans won’t even sample a new program if it airs on Nbc. It’s really a depressing situation at that network. Comedies such as Go On,New Normal & Guys With Kids ain’t doing it for me and for most people for that matter.
Yes,I know guys-*a starring vehicle for the Roseanne alumna* sorry,I read it way too quickly. Now,I’m really happy! Thank you for the info Nellie-keep it up!
go Boxerbaum!
Go away, Rosie. Your time has come and gone. Plus, networks don’t show old people anymore, or hadn’t you noticed?
You’ll be lucky to have a good, long life. Don’t knock her, she’s a pro.
really? i’m pretty sure Betty White is all over network tv, or hadn’t you noticed?
NBC thinks someone who couldn’t carry a reality show on cable can carry a prime time sitcom.
Hmmm…. I don’t quite see the logic in that.
Whatever happened to that trailer park show with John Goodman? Was a pilot ever made? Rosie is soooo yesterday.
Rosie is one of the best sitcom stars to date. How many shows carried nine seasons with most seasons being at the top of the charts? Not very many. Yes she is older, but who cares. She brings the kind of raw and real comedy that people look for in a sitcom and I am very excited to see what she has to bring to the table. Let one episode pilot and I guarantee she will be back on top, no matter how old she is or who thinks her time has come and gone
