• I would watch a live program that involved Brand being deported. What about Bell’s show? “Biased” is not very funny, but Bell is likeable, unlike the detestable Brand.

• I love RB but the show is dead in the water until it’s picked up by a network, cable is a wasteland for the most part with few exceptions. Unfortunately, the production is so bad on this show it’s almost un-watchable even for fans. His high pitched squeaky voice doesn’t help either. The script doesn’t exactly bring out the best in him, too bad because he has a lot of strong qualities that just don’t come across in this show.

• I think both Brand X (I agree, terrible name) and Totally Biased are funny, and I look forward to the hour long episodes before it’s inevitable cancellation. X seems a little too seat-of-the-pants, though. A bit too Um, what do I do now? Biased is good, but Bell doesn’t seem very comfortable in front of a camera and the guest commentators often come across kind of stupid. I hope both shows last and get better as their hosts get more comfortable and figure out how to host.

• The last two episodes of the second cycle of X (that were an hour long) were good. I also happen to know that shows 1-11 went well in studio but after his production team butchered them they were patchy at best. As for Brand fucking off back to England, he did various versions and formats of this show there, and all were excellent. This is what he does. Whatever the hell is wrong with X is not entirely down to him. Kimmel went “live”–as in the name of the show–for the first season. It took the production team out of the equation and so ABC could actually see if Jimmy was worth it. I see FX has finally clued in on that approach. As for Bell’s show, he’s likeable but boring as in he thinks his audience can’t handle any intelligent commentary. He’s playing it too safe. At least Brand has potential to do something interesting.
