Sam Worthington will star in the action-thriller For The Dogs directed by Phillip Noyce. The screenplay is by Oren Moverman based on an adaptation by Paul Leyden of Kevin Wignall’s novel. Leydon wrote the script after optioning the rights out of his own pocket. For The Dogs is about an assassin who agrees to help a college girl exact revenge on the murderers of her parents and younger brother. FilmEngine’s Anthony Rhulen and Navid McIlhargey will produce along with Worthington, John Schwarz, and Michael Schwarz via their Full Clip Productions banner, and Paul Leyden. Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales and Paradigm will be handling domestic. Worthington is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content. UTA handles Noyce. Moverman is represented by WME. Full Clip is represented by Jon Levin at CAA. Leyden is with Paradigm and Code Entertainment. Wignall is represented by Marjacq in the UK.

Lose the beard, Sam. The 3 day alcoholic stubble look doesn’t work any better for you than it did Gary Busey.
At first glance, this seems a little low-rent for Noyce. Doesn’t have the whiff of blockbuster that SALT did, as in Sam Worthington is no Angelina Jolie. But considering the script is by the smart and interesting Oren Moverman, I’m hopeful that that not-very-prolific Noyce picked this project because it won’t suck… though SALT wasn’t very good, was it? Hmmm, the presence of Sam Worthington isn’t reassuring. Watching WRATH OF THE TITANS on TV over the weekend, I was reminded why people hate on him for being such a lightweight non-star. He’s like one of those second-rate leading men in the 1950s: Handsome and manly enough, but there’s just no “there” there. Though he is very good at feral growling.
Should the producers care to reconsider, I have a piece of lumber out back that not only acts better than Worthington but comes a whole lot cheaper too.
I see him as an action guy. That’s the best angle for him. When he tries too hard it just all falls apart.
This guy can’t act.
ever occurred to anyone that perhaps the right role hasn`t exactly leapt out of the page for him yet.he still has at least 40 years ahead of him lots of good actors didn`t come into their own till they were past 50,and to be fair to Sam, he has always said he is still learning his craft.Perhaps we should wait and see
