Finch and Reese are about to meet their match. In-demand Fairly Legal star Sarah Shahi has been tapped for a recurring role on the sophomore CBS drama Person Of Interest. She will play Shaw, a fearless, sexy and witty operative in a secret paramilitary organization that tracks and eliminates terrorists before they can act. As POI creator/executive producer Jonathan Nolan put it, “if James Bond and Sarah Connor had a kid, Shaw would kick its ass.” Shahi will first appear in the February 21 episode titled Relevance, which will be directed Nolan. For now, Shahi has been booked for an arc this season, but I hear she may continue in Season 3 of the drama that has been growing in the ratings, boosted by a Two And A Half Men lead-in.
This is the second high-profile arc for Shahi since the recent cancellation of her USA series Fairly Legal. The actress, who has already been approached for several pilots, also recurs on freshman NBC drama Chicago Fire. She is with CAA, McKeon-Myones and Neil Meyer.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

What a great addition! Can’t wait to see her in action. Chicks who kick ass rock!
She is ridiculously hot!
Love her so much. Great addition.
Is she going to stay on Chicago Fire? What’s going to happen to her relationship with Taylor Kinney’s character? I can’t imagine that show without him.
I love her and don’t know anything about her! I couldn’t make it through the pilot of her show Fairly Legal because I thought it was horrible. But her 2 episodes of Chicago Fire so far have me as one of her biggest fans now!
She was fantastic in the NBC series “Life” opposite Damien Lewis. That’s the show I recommend to anyone who wants more of her.
Oh, yes. Life! I was never more disappointed in my viewing life than when that show was cancelled and she was terrific in it. I look forward to seeing her in anything. Wonderful actress with a serious intensity that always makes you aware of multi-layers at work in her character.
Yes, FL was pretty awful, but when she was on the L Word, she Rocked! She is unbelievably HAWT!
Loved her on “The L Word.”
YES YES YES YES YES!!
From season 1 i explain that POI need from strong female lead to take #1 broadcast drama. Its best scripted and acting drama. But Finch and Reese need strong female and this is the answer.
Taraji Henson has been very good… I hope your problem with her isn’t that she’s black?
They already have a strong female character, Detetive Carter!
You sound like the same Petar from TV By The Numbers site. I am assuming that you are, so you know more than any Person of interest fan that this move is going to ruin the show. You know what attracted people to this show and it did not and does not need any recurring hot kick ass chicks to get it’s point across. Detective Carter does just fine, and a dose or more of a smart and crafty Zoe Morgan would do just fine too. I would take a solid 2.9 demo and a second highest overall rating over a 3.5 or higher demo, which is what CBS wants, any day if it meant keeping the integrity of the show intact. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
AMEN!!! PREACH!!!
Taraji Henson is great oscar award actree and i like her. But without shine/brilliance for me.
Taraja is a brilliant actress with incredible shine and immense appeal. She certainly is a major factor in the draw of POI. To even suggest the show is currently without a strong female presence is insulting and without merit or credibility.
Sounds like the character has potental for a spin-off.
She was great with Damian Lewis on “Life”. She’s definitely a welcome addition to the show.
I hope she gets a regular character in either, Chicago Fire or Person of Interest. I like her role in CF, but I’d rather see her as a sexy kickass woman (a la Nikita) in PoI.
“the drama that has been growing in the ratings, boosted by a Two And A Half Men lead-in.”
Uh, pretty the ratings has more to do with the quality of the show and it’s cast, not it’s lead-in, Nellie.
And good for Sarah. It’s about time she landed a meaty role in a solid series. Hope she does get a larger part in season 3.
Sarah Shahi arc sounds like potential spin-off. From months i am talking about POI spin-off with female lead. Will be so happy if they can do this. POI is best lead-in for new dramas on broadcast network right now and POI spin-off is best way to use it.
please please marry me, sarah shahi. i make no money and i am a child; you are amazing.
you did it, cbs. i have to watch you now.
She was great on the highly underrated “Life”. Glad to see get on POI. Probably one of the best broadcoast network télévision series right now.
Jonah Nolan did it.
Believe me, 2 & 1/2 Men lead-in is not the reason people watch Person of Interest. I don’t turn on my TV until Person of Interest has begun. 2 &1/2 Men makes me sick to my stomach. Charlie Sheen is certainly not the poster boy for good, clean fun, but 2 & 1/2 Men was not as raunchy when he was the star. He was just being ‘Charley’. Now the show is just for shock value and most of the shock just makes me want to throw-up.
Just so long as things don’t get romantic between her and Reese–that would doom the show.
Shahi is phenomenal. I love POI and I think she’ll make a great addition!
Person of Interest is just great. Looking forward to Shahi, she is welcome. I am especially glad to hear that Nolan is going to be directing the episode.
Do not like this move at all. I love this show and it has the second highest overall, not demo, audience on Thursday nights. It is smart and keeps you on your toes. It makes you think and pay attention and CBS is going to ruin it. What they are doing is what I like to call “dumbing it down for the demo.” CBS is pressuring the producers of Person to attract a better demographic, you know the 18 to 49 year old demo that advertisers target and ratings are based on? The demo ratings have not been rising and are often stuck at 2.9 and rarely crack a 3.0. They are regularly beaten by Grey’s Anatomy unless Grey’s is a rerun or on hiatus. It is not benefitting from a Two and Half men lead in. Those viewers switch to Grey’s when Men is over. CBS does not like this, so they bring a hot chick in to increase the young testosterone driven audience, because the demo group can only relate to non stop action, hot dudes, hot chicks, hot dudes bedding hot chicks and simple plot lines. Grey’s and Chicago Fire do well in the demo ratings because of this, but they are not smart, intriguing shows. Person of Interest is, and now CBS is out to ruin it. Yeah they will gain more demo, but will lose the fans they already have. Good luck with that.
THIS!!!
Taraji Henson was great this week in POI and Sarah will just add to a great show. Its my favorite drama on TV.
Boo. I liked her in Fairly Legal but she would take away from the dynamic on POI. Bringing a female in just because they are female is what threw off Human Target. It was a great show and was surviving when the financer lady was added but the young girl added made it feel like there was an extra charactr that had lines not needed just to keep her included. Why not leave good alone…
You are so right. The females are the reason a great show like human target got cancelled. I am worried too. The ratings are already low when she’s on the air so they better think twice before adding her to season 3.
Adding Sarah is to add variety. She will in no way take away from Carter’s character. Reese and Carter have a Chemistry that is second to none. And Nolan continues to move the two closer together.
That would be great love. Her and. The. Show
I love this show. All of the characters are superb. They already have 3 strong females, 2 are recurring Zoe and Root, and series regular Carter. It could work with Sarah Shahi if they want to give Jim Caviezel some down time. Her character already met Root and she
could periodically persue her since Reese has others to help. If written well, an extra character won’t ruin the show. If you ever watched the Equalizer, that show had several extra characters help Robert McCall with their specialty and the show was excellent.
