EXCLUSIVE UPDATED: A new duo will be joining TNT‘s primetime. I’ve learned that the network has given a series order to the pilot King And Maxwell starring Rebecca Romijn and Jon Tenney. The series, which is now untitled, hails from from CBS TV Studios and NCIS: LA boss Shane Brennan. Adapted from characters created by bestselling author David Baldacci, it has received a 10-episode order for a summer 2013 launch. In the vein of Moonlighting, the series follows
Sean King (Tenney) and Michelle Maxwell (Romijn), who aren’t the typical pair of private investigators. Both are former Secret Service agents, and their unique skill sets (not to mention their razor-sharp chemistry) often gives them a leg up on suspects and conventional law enforcement. With her striking beauty, athletic prowess and Beltway connections, Maxwell is a formidable investigator, determined to prove herself after being forced to resign from the Secret Service. Brennan wrote the script and executive produces with Grant Anderson. Karen Spiegel is producing and Baldacci serves as a consultant. The project was originally developed for CBS last season.
Co-starring in the pilot, directed by Michael Katleman, are Michael O’Keefe (Michael Clayton) as Rigby and Chris Butler (The Good Wife) as Carter, two FBI agents who occasionally cross paths with King and Maxwell. In addition, Ryan Hurst co-stars as Edgar Roy, a savant who helps King and Maxwell solve cases. Brennan and Baldacci are with Paradigm.
The series marks the return to TNT of The Closer co-star Tenney and joins another two-lead TNT crime drama, flagship drama Rizzoli & Isles. King And Maxwell is one of four pilots in contention at TNT along with the Michael Bay-produced The Last Ship, the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Trooper and the Howard Gordon-produced Legends. As it picked up King And Maxwell today, the network passed on Trooper.

This would have been a huge hit for the CBS Netwrok. Oh wait a minute. They passed on it. What a massive error. I hear the pilot rocks. Can’t wait to see the series.
Congrats.
And the Director is. Michael. Katleman
Eh. Bring back LEVERAGE.
Arlene LEVERAGE???
Whatever happened to LA Noir?
Will be weird seeing “Fritz” without Brenda Lee, but I’ll watch anything with Jon Tenney in it…love him!
Smart move by TNT. Hope to see more from Grant and Brennan, smart guys and a great team…
It’s better off all cbs does right now is bland and consertive dramas. I’ll curious have people who enjoyed it seen recent dramas set around private investigators. Such as Veronica Mars and terriers. Those are currently standard that I expect from Pi dramas. Seeing how horrible an adaption Rizzoli and Ilse is. Also tnt track record for making mediocre procedurals. I’m not very optomistic.
To those complaining ’bout CBS, I hear Golden Boy is pure gold, and that Theo James is a real find.
People are always complaining about CBS on here, yet they’re #1. Hmmm.
CBS is #1 for the same reason McDonald’s is: It’s always the same and you don’t have to think about it.
No 1 according to who.neison!? With Les silencing journalists who award Dish the best technology award for removing adds. Whcih put CBS in terrible jeopardy as – as you put it – number 1 — hmmmm! Oh and I worked for CBS for longer than you did –hmmmm
I can’t wait for the witless banter these two will spawn.
Jon Tenney sounds perfect for this role, loved him as Fritz on The Closer. Can’t wait for this!
So glad to hear Ryan Hurst is still working, devastated when he was killed off SOA. I will follow him anywhere, just hope the show doesn’t suck with Romijn Stamos in it. She cant act, but her husband can. Lets go Opie!
THEY HAD ME AT *RYAN HURST* !!!
WHY IS HE NOT ON SOA??
Sounds like this will be a great start for a longtime series
L.A. Noire (now Lost Angels) was picked up long time ago.
