With The CW sending one iconic HBO series, Sex And The City, back in time to 1980s high school with prequel series The Carrie Diaries, Saturday Night Live did the same for another, The Sopranos. Here is last night’s The Sopranos Diaries, chronicling the teen years of Tony Soprano and the gang.

Fun idea. Terrible execution. Four times longer than it needed to be.
loved it. Fred Armisen kills me.
Omg so funni
Not sure why they didn’t just tear into The Carrie Diaries. Seems ripe for a take down.
Unless they just saved their venom for the Catfish skit.
Oh my Goodness – something funny on SNL!
Nope, not yet. It’s been years and years, but hope springs eternal.
This is classic SNL. A funny idea gone awry because of not understanding g how to build a sketch, and in the case of parody, filling it with moments that don’t support that parody. It’s one note all the way until Carmela comes in, but there’s nothing in the moments for the fans who know every episode (really… that was Big Pussy?) and when Tony goes into a bad Joe Pesci moment with the rubick’s cube, you see once again the lack of time and effort they spend on these sketches. The issue is pecking order, and the fact that the same actors do all the sketches, so there’s no time to do the research and work to make something great. Funny idea though…
OMG You haters need a hobby. This sketch was hilarious.
Agreed.
