Three days after CBS Films acquired domestic rights to Toy’s House at the Sundance Film Festival, QED International has scooped up non-North American rights to the coming-of-age comedy. It’s the first deal for John Hegeman, the former New Regency marketing boss who was appointed QED’s president of worldwide marketing and acquisitions just ahead of Sundance. Park City was his first task with the new title. Here’s today’s release on Toy’s House:

LOS ANGELES (January 25, 2013)  – QED International has acquired international distribution rights to TOY’S HOUSE, it was announced today by Worldwide President of Marketing and Acquisitions John Hegeman. Under the agreement, QED will distribute TOY’S HOUSE in all markets outside North America. The film premiered to rave reviews at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and has just been picked up for US distribution by CBS Films which is eyeing a 2013 release date.

Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts from a screenplay by Chris Galletta, TOY’S HOUSE follows three teenage boys as they head into the wilderness with a plan to build a house and live off the land. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Vogt-Roberts and stars Nick Robinson, Gabriel Basso, Moises Arias, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, Alison Brie, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Erin Moriarty, Marc Evan Jackson, Thomas Middleditch and Tony Hale. Tyler Davidson of Low Spark Films, Peter Saraf of Big Beach and John Hodges are the producers with Richard Rothfeld and Jordan Vogt-Roberts serving as executive producers.

The deal with QED was negotiated by QED VP of International Sales John Friedberg. John Sloss and Cinetic Media repped the filmmakers.

TOY’S HOUSE will be part of QED’s Berlin sales slate which also includes TEN, directed by David Ayer and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger; the romantic comedy FADING GIGOLO, directed by John Turturro and starring Turturro and Woody Allen; the romantic comedy ARE WE OFFICIALLY DATING? starring Zac Efron and Imogen Poots; and Mac Carter’s supernatural thriller HAUNT starring Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver.
