EXCLUSIVE: Veteran lit agent Rich Green has left CAA, and he has joined the new agency being launched by former ICM chief Jeff Berg. The well respected Green has been there nine years, and his last day was Friday. Among the clients he worked with are Grace Of Monaco‘s Arash Amel, Maleficent‘s Linda Woolverton, Rock Of Ages‘ Chris D’Arienzo, Mike LeSieur (the Black List script The Flamingo Thief which Will Ferrel will star in) and authors like Sliver Linings Playbook‘s Matthew Quick, The Corrections‘ Jonathan Franzen, Fight Club‘s Chuck Palahniuk, Snow Crash‘s Neal Stephenson, The Discovery of Witches‘ Deborah Harkness and Interview with the Vampire‘s Anne Rice. It is unclear which clients might join him, at this point, as he tries to bring them over and CAA attempts to keep them in the fold.
Green joined CAA after a long stint at UTA, where he worked closely brokering book to movie deals with Howie Sanders. I will tell you more when I know it.

Love this.
jeff berg’s gonna run a lean machine.
Congrats, Rich!! You are one of the good guys and so deserving of this next great career move. Kudos for continuing to live without limits!
Would love to know more about Jeff’s new agency–who all is over there and who they’re bringing… The place is opening soon isn’t it? Perhaps another article when enough is known.
I’m hoping it will be a successful new year for them.
agree, good to know the alternative places to sign. caa and wme are bloated. although i hear more poeple will leave both soon. and wme promoted new partners this week. how many does that make
Sounds exciting for both Rich and the new agency !
I second that. Always a gentleman in the supply room!
Don’t know him but the fact that he goes down there himself speaks volumes
It is very exciting to see a new agency being created. Can’t wait to see who they bring over and what they will do.
i agree, it’s nice to have some fun in the agency game for a change.
Rich is widely known as one of the very best lit guys in town (and hands down THE best book guy), so this is a shock. I’m curious to know the real story is here, but this is clearly CAA’s loss. Good luck, Rich — not that you’ll need it.
Fly away on the silver morning, Rich! Congratulations. A wonderful, wonderful guy and agent. Much success in the new gig!
I am pleasantly reminded of Han Solo’s infamous words as he and Luke Skywalker prepared to leave the Death Star…
“You’re all clear, kid! Now let’s blow this thing and go home!”
+1 point to you Mr. Petchow.
Laura, what happened to all the buckslips? I can’t find them anywhere…
I would also love to know more about this mysterious new agency. Has there been any news of any clients of any kind yet?
Rich is one of the best out there… and one of the kindest guys in the business. I hope this brings him everything he deserves!
I know they picked up a Abram Salibotsky who was at Gersh a month ago… other then that I’m not sure.
Congratulations to Rich Green! You are a great agent and a greater human being. Adios to CAA and onto to bigger and BETTER!
Congrats Rich! Best of luck to you.
Rich is a class act. Total stand up guy. And great taste.
Berg is a genius. Its game over for uta and icm. And caa will unravel on its own. Thank you jeff for havig the constitution and ambition to shake shit up in the stale agency biz
I’m a UTA client, and they’re great to me, and really it’s about you, not the agent, but I definitely feel “less than” not being at CAA or WME. Obviously it’s better to be the best client at Paradigm than a nobody at CAA, but I do feel like UTA is not impressive to people.
They may not be as big as CAA or WME–but you know what bigger isn’t always better. UTA is great eos–don’t trip yourself out. They even beat out CAA this year in the lit department.
Haven’t worked with Rich but everyone I know who has loves him. Looks like Berg still has lots of fight left in him. This could get very interesting
WOW it is amazing to hear NICE comments about an agent!!
SO RARE
So happy for you Rich… great news. Now you will be really valued for all you bring to the table.
Rich Green is 1 of the honest good men in this business! Good luck Rich!
Always good news for writers, directors and actors to have competition among agencies. Hope this new enterprise succeeds.
You rock! You’re a great agent! Everyone in this buisness is really proud of your decision. Keep up the good work.
Rich is one of the best. This is very cool news. Can’t wait to hear more about the new agency Berg is putting together, seems to be coming along very nicely so far.
CAA will be nothing without this guy. He’s off to change the future of the business.
Yeah this daddy deserves to go on to much bigger and better things!
Rich represented me in my latest book-to-movie project and I cannot say enough kind words about him – smart, nice, passionate and honest – what more could a writer want?
