EXCLUSIVE: Vinnie Chase and Ari Gold are back, baby. Warner Bros has tonight given the greenlight on a movie version of Entourage, the HBO series that ran from 2004-2011. That’s about as far as the studio has gotten at this point, and there is no start date. But it’s a reprise for the inside Hollywood exploits of the up and coming film star, his agent, his manager, his under-appreciated TV actor brother and the childhood pal/driver who form his inner circle. The film will be directed by series creator Doug Ellin, who wrote the screenplay and who exec produced the series with Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. Deals are starting to be made with Adrian Grenier who played Vinnie, Kevin Connolly who played his manager Eric “E” Murphy, Kevin Dillon who played the actor’s brother Johnny Drama, Jerry Ferrara who played their entrepreneurial driver Turtle, and of course Jeremy Piven who played the show’s iconic Type A talent agent-turned movie studio mogul Ari Gold.

In September 2012, the HBO series ended its 8th and final season with soap opera schmaltz but also a Hollywood cliffhanger. Agent Ari Gold becoming a newly minted studio mogul obviously set up the movie which series’ WME packaging agent Ari Emanuel (the prototype for Gold) and executive producers Mark Wahlberg and Steven Levinson want so badly. Ellin says that Wahlberg keeps promising “to kill me if I don’t write faster. Every time I see him, Mark says, ‘I’ve made 5 movies this year. Get going!” Ellin needed time off after spending “10 years of my life” on the TV series that premiered on HBO in 2004. He told Deadline his script starts about 6 months after the TV series leaves off. “There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.” Ellin has kept in touch with all the key castmembers especially Connolly (“E”) and Ferrara (Turtle”) who are two of Ellin’s closest friends. All the Entourage actors have been getting other gigs while HBO has been paying Ellin for the script. Hopefully Drama’s agent Lloyd (Rex Lee), E’s girl Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui), his management partner Scott (Scott Caan), their quirky director collaborator Billy Walsh (Rhys Coiro) and Ari’s agency partner Barbara Miller (Beverly D’Angelo) will all be in the mix, along with a swarm of real Hollywood VIPs playing themselves. While some naysayers might think this HBO-to-film has no shot, the first Sex And The City did really well.

Can’t wait! Correction though….Ari wasn’t offered just the head of the studio….He was offered head of the company that owns the studio and many others!
I LOVE THIS SHOW! SO EXCITED!!! I can’t wait for the movie to come out!
Ari wasn’t offered a job to run the studio. He was offered the job to be CEO of Warner Brothers who owned the studio.
The comments on this post are epic.
Thank god. Been waiting a age for this film.
Entourage Was awsome always something new to offer turn with different twist adventure romance and full of excitement love and laughts just ridicule funny just love it ! All characters just fantastic fresh full of crazy nest ! Hillaryous
about God damn time they made the movie I’ve been missing my boys… can’t wait to see what ari does also….. man this series was great made a ave felt what it was like to know what really happens in Hollywood… missed entourage without a doubt
I would love the movie. I’d also want turtle to be chubby again. Jerry looks awesome and he is very handsome but turtle has to be chubby. I miss him.
If HBO is turning their shows into movies, where is our Sopranos movie? Two Sex and the City movies and no Sopranos? Seriously?
I thought the least season of entourage was crap. The scenes involving the british journo and vince were almost painful and really exposed adrian griener as the ordinary actor he is. I think a Sopranos film should be made.
Mark wahlberg knows what hes doing and im sure doug delivered a good script. WB has a hit!
The call was about running the whole enterprise, not the studio!!
Fuck Deadwood, this is about Entourage. This is gonna be sick.
Wow if you are really so dense as to not understand that tge comments regarding their busy schedules are sarcasm I cry for America and especially the fans of this show of which I once counted myself as. And as to being in four films in the 3 years since filming wrapped up that’s nothing real actors you know the kind that win awards often film 4-6 films a year so being in 4 movies since some of are one scene comes like E in the ugly truth doesn’t exactly point to success post entourage.
I thought season 8 was horrible. Unrealistic to the characters (vinny falling in love and marrying this girl in minutes) and all the other half assed nonsense. It just felt horrible and rushed and “ruined” a great show. If they are going to go through with this movie I hope the provide some actual closure or at least something that doesn’t feel half assed and rushed and untrue to the characters.
Umm you’re joking right? Entourage is awesome! I’m sure they’ll get to deadwood eventually.
Yeah i hear there is scheduling conflict with the whole cast. Grenier is holding out for Pacino’s old role in the Godfather remake. So it looks like he will be holding out till well i guess infinte. TacoBell doesnt allow sick days so they are looking for another “Turtle and “Drama” Kevin is too deep in his role in the Children of the Corn prequal. Rex Lee is hoping to retire from the proceeds of his autobiography “50 Shades of Gay” Jeremy Piven was in, but once he found out that David Spade is signed on to do “PCU 2″ he bailed. So HBO is considering replacing the crew with Seth Green and his Entourage
I love everything about this comment.
Oh yeah and Billy Walsh got promoted from the Gap to Banana Republic so with everybody’s flourishing career it just seems to be nothing more than a pipe dream
But what would the movie actually be about? Would it start where we left off or go back and rehash the premise of the series?
I’ve been saying that WB needs to do a movie. The scrip needs to be good don’t F it up from a fan that love the show
I can’t wait to watch it. I’ve been sad since its ended!
We are talking about entourage not deadwood. The movies gonna be made script is done and all these guys are committed. END OF STORY!
This is definitely wait for blu-ray.
of course its going to get made and make a shit-ton of money. huge following.
This movie will never fly….who would go pay to see a 25 minute movie?
