UPDATED: The current fifth season of 90210 will be its last. The CW series has been doing very poorly in the ratings this season in its Monday slot, especially this midseason when it has been paired with The Carrie Diaries. February 18, 90210 drew just 500,000 viewers. Now the series’ May 13 season finale will also be a series finale. Seven episodes remain. “The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a release announcing the move. “I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.”
At the TCAs in January, Pedowitz suggested that 90210 could return, possibly for a final hurrah. “I am a big believer in giving fans a very satisfactory conclusion,” he said. “It’s something that we as a television industry need to do.” But, after some dismal ratings performances this month, such a closure turned out not to be in the cards for the reboot of the hit Fox series. Still, the early cancellation allows the producers to tweak storylines and give the fans some closure with the finale. CBS TV Studios produced 90210 with executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen.

Cast was good but writing was horrendous. Could’ve been cool, dark and edgy portrayal of LA teens but was the lamest of lame.
Totally understand it, and fully support their move. Although I still watch the show, I must agree that it has been a roller-coaster of crap and awesome stuff. Not sure if I’m gonna miss them, but I will remember 90210 as the show who brought me into the TV-world.
Wait, I don’t get it. Wasn’t 90210 cancelled in the 90′s?
#Graham Crackers on your face
Ha ha, very funny. Ho ho, it is to laugh.
But to answer your question, no there never was a show called 90210 cancelled in the 90s. Beverly Hills, 90210 ended after 10 years and it ended in the year 2000.
nope, the one cancelled in the 90′s was beverly hills 90210. The one canceled now is a remake
What about a Peach Pit spinoff?
I stopped watching after the surprisingly good third season, and even then the best thing about the show was the excellent AnnaLynne McCord…also, I wikipediad ‘The Carrie Diaries’ and apparently at the end of the first book, Carrie meets the first SATC-girl, a young Samantha Jones…so if they want a big bang in the first season finale AND a second season, they MIGHT want to start sending those gift baskets to McCord’s team because she would be PERFECT, not to mention this way CW could keep one of their signature stars who is destined to be snapped up for a new show even this late in the ‘pilot season’.
Great idea. Seriously. Annalynne is absolutely perfect to play Samantha.
Wow what a great idea! Seriously Anna Lynne was amazing in Nip/Tuck and underutilized in the cheesy character that 90210 wrote her out to be. The Naomi character became a parody of itself. The LA Complex was what 90210 should have been. Very dark and real look at young LA. Instead it was all over the place, the love of Annies life just dies and the next episode shes lusting for her ex. It’s too bad there wasn’t more depth to the characters but Grimes would also parlay well into a fantastic young Charlotte in Carrie Diaries
I wholly agree, I think 90210 has come to its end of era. Although I am a sucker for cheesy soaps and high end drama but the writing has been lackluster not to mention characterization was lame. Dixon, Navid, Ted, Michaela, anyone? Annalyne is the reason that saves the show, although there’s only so much she can do. But I hope CW will reserve her talent for a major comeback, and if CW picks up Carrie Diaries for second season, Annalyne’s a perfect cast choice to play the young Samantha Jones. And NO, Shanae Grimes shouldnt be Charlotte. Coz it will add confusion to viewers (if u know what I mean)
Welcome to obscurity suckahs!
I hope fans will get at least a proper ending with all loose ends tied up.
Why wasn’t this shut down after the first few seasons? It never put up decent numbers! The CW is a hot mess.
Wait…what?! No! This can’t be happening..but I love this show! — said no one
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
False, I loved this show :/
I did too:). I think it’s because they have so many interruptions during the season!!
The show was complete rubbish, but the Teddy gay storyline was touching and real. The actor Trevor Donovan gave live to that character even though they gave the gay storyline minimal air time. Props to the CW for touching on a sensitive topic even though they treated it like an ugly step child.
McCord needs to be on American Horror Story. Get it done, people.
They should bring back a bunch of folks from the original show before it ends, they need to have Kelly get back with Dylan or something. She had his kid and then they just dropped all ties to the original.
I totally agree!!!
I loved BH 90210 and even watched this version for a few years but then they killed off everything from the first show and lost me. Kelly, Brenda and Donna all came and went and no one noticed. Silver lives with her sister but is never seen again…. Ok sure.
Great! Now we can start getting ready for the new reboot coming in 2015!
The CW is finally getting their act together. The acting was offensively bad. The writing was lame. Josh Zuckerman was toooo talented for this show. Josh baby please get a new agent.
I don’t remember those five years being all that great, Mark…
A collective sigh of relief. FINALLY.
Cause a new agent will help his writing ability. Xoxo jojo
I’m a fan of the original 90210 when I was in the then Fox/now CW demo age-group. I was probably too old now for this version, so I didn’t watch much. Believe it or not, I started watching this version at the very beginning to see the mom-character: Lori Loughlin, but then she didn’t fit the demo anymore either, and the show tossed her aside. I’d like to see Lori back on TV.
One person from this show we will see again soon – AnnaLynne McCord. Star-power. I noticed other postings here mentioning her; she was on Nip Tuck – wow, she sizzled on that show and went head-to-head with Kelly Carlson – great tandem. McCord’s agent will start getting inundated with calls/texts now – there is still time in this pilot season to sign her up – maybe ABC’s Betrayal, or as prior post noted – The Carrie Diaries, if that show wants to start ‘playing in the big leagues’.
Thank GOD.
I grew up with the 90′s version and started watching his when I saw the young Robert Redford character added in season 2, then stayed for the coming out story line in season 3. It was always the guest stars on the 90′s show that went on to have careers, I think this holds true. Trevor Donovan, and Josh Zuckerman were the stand outs. I read Donovan is moving on quickly, I wonder what the rest of the cast will do.
Did they get new writers the last seasons? It was a great show and then suddenly it sucked big time.
This show was gross
My heart is broken, I absolutely love this show! I looked forward to Mondays!
Thank You!!!! a comment that actually makes sense
I predict those 2 Jessica girls, my homie Tristan and that Naomi chick, their careers go up after this. Y’all don’t know how bad the writers were on this show. Anything will be an upgrade them.
Sad to see it go but glad it lasted longer than the reboot of malrose place. =) && I’m still upset about CW canceling Secret Circle & not outing it to DVD that show I thought could have sent places & I miss it still.
