EXCLUSIVE: ABC is going for some experimentation this pilot season. In addition to the 12 half-hour pilots it ordered, the network is looking to do a couple of 10-minute, small-budget comedy presentations for scripts that didn’t make the cut for pilot orders but ABC brass liked enough to give them a shot. They are shorter than the regular comedy presentations, but ABC executives believe they will still get a sense of a project’s potential. First off is the single-camera See You Next Tuesday, from the sibling writing team of Wendy & Lizzie Molyneux (Bob’s Burgers) and 20th Century Fox TV. It is an office comedy about the biggest psychopath in the world and the people who work for her. The duo executive produce with Aaron Kaplan and Sean Perrone of Kaplan/Perrone. Before joining Bob’s Burgers, Wendy & Lizzie Molyneux, repped by WME and attorney Gregg Gellman, wrote The Day I Turned Uncool for Paramount as well as the Black List script My Sister Is Marrying A Douchebag.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

They wrote the Black List script “My Sister Is Marrying A Douchebag”? Better Idea: Since they’re repped by Kaplan-Perrone how about “My Manager Is a Douchebag”?
Did they pass on your spec? Hardly a person in town that doesn’t like these guys. Maybe you could write that script and then hope they sign you this time around?
Please tell me Issa Rae is one of them. Also Casey Wilson
next up for pilot season: flashcards.
idiots.
Idiots? Why? The idiotic thing is spending 2 million for pilots that never go anywhere and passing on others because of concern about inexperienced creators. Presentations can give lots of projects that would otherwise be passed on a fair shot. They’re not for every project but it’s not idiotic. Or do you just think they should take their pass and go home?
THIS.
They should order The Strange Calls. Brilliant show, could pair nicely with The Neighbors.
I like the 10 and 15 min. programing for TV… Being a Producer/writer I believe a 15 min time program would help character development to tell a better story. ‘Just sayin’
Wendy and Lizzie are the best!!!
Don’t cry Chad. I’m sure your parents think the spec you wrote is “neat.”
Wendy and Lizzie are two of the best writers in the business. Congrats!!
Very happy for Wendy and Lizzie and their husbands Steven and Kelvin!!!!!!
sounds like ABC is unsure of the shows they green-lit for pilot season and this is their way to “test the audience”.
ABC should be more sound in their pilot choices.
‘See you next Tuesday’ sounds lame and unoriginal.
Make better decisions and then no one will have to watch truncated crap shows.
Ha ha, Kaplan & Perrone are great! You crazy for this one Chad!
No joking. This is a great idea. They should start doing more of these, it really helps. You get a sense of the comedy, the tone, the rhythm, the look…
for those who say “you won’t get character!” well, they DO. Because they have full scripts already. This is more to start seeing something. It’s also less risk, yet allows the creators a shot. I see little downside to this. And the fact they want to spend money on something invests them.
We’ve been doing this for years in reality, it’s smart to do it in scripted as well.
“The Cosby Show” was a presentation, never forget.
Coming to your Twitter feed soon….
Um, unless something happened that I don’t know about, I think you mean Jeff.
Agreed. Some of the best writing in town.
Awesome, congrats Molyneux sisters. Go get’em!
