Ari Graynor (For A Good Time Call) will play the lead in Bad Teacher, CBS‘ single-camera comedy series adaptation of the hit 2011 movie. Written by Hilary Winston, directed by Don Scardino and produced by the film’s writers-producers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, the pilot centers on hot, confident, unapologetic former trophy wife Meredith Davis (Graynor) who becomes a teacher to find a new man after her husband leaves her without a dime. A smart and savvy survivor, she sets her sights on a teaching career when she hears there are a lot of rich single dads at a local middle school. Meredith Davis knows what she wants and more importantly, how to get it. The role was played by Cameron Diaz in the movie. In addition to starring, Graynor will also serve as a producer on the pilot where she joins previously cast David Alan Grier. Graynor, repped by UTA, Principal Entertainment and Jamie Feldman, recurred on Fox’s Fringe.

That’s perfect. All of the CBS casting this season has been a huge knock out of the park. Their single cam slate is going to be incredible.
Another great casting choice.
Exactly my thoughts! I hate they will only pick up two-three series because there are so many shows I’d watch! I’d definitely check out “Crazy Ones”, “McCarthys”, “Super Clyde”, “Bad Teacher” and “Mom”. I’m gonna be so bummed when they announce what they picked up! Ugh!
SUPERB choice. Graynor is perfect for the role.
I imagine this and “Crazy Ones” will be CBS’ single-cam tryout Wednesdays at 8 or Thursdays at 9.
Brilliant casting. I had no interest in watching this until now.
Yeah… I find Ari Graynor really unappealing in certain roles. And this definitely feels like one of those.
I thought she was in her 20s.
Very nice that she went for TV. She wasn’t going to make it in films, probably stuck in the sister/best friend role forever. And it’s good that it’s for this pilot. Hopefully she won’t go the way of sister/best friend queen Judy Greer….
The script is fabulous. Ari Graynor is fabulous. I’m in.
How is this good casting? She’s playing somebody that is supposed to be 40 years old. I’m the exact same age and am already penniless. Most 29 year olds are. So for her to play somebody who’s life is turned upside down because she’s penniless just isn’t believable. I like the actress, but she’s playing a role that was perfect for the old lady who played it the first time.
she is oddly appealing. she is cute despite her bette midler looks and real-life average size body.
