EXCLUSIVE: Hot off his Best Actor Oscar nomination for Silver Linings Playbook, Bradley Cooper has signed on to to star in the English-language remake of Kokowaah at Warner Bros. Cooper and Sheroum Kim are setting up the project through his WB-based 22nd & Indiana shingle. They will shape it as a star vehicle for him and he might well direct the film (it becomes one of several candidates for his feature directing debut). Black List writers Scott Rothman & Rajiv Joseph are re-writing the screenplay from an earlier draft by Chris Shafer & Paul Vicknair.
Kokowaah explores the relationship between two men – carefree bachelor Henry and devoted husband and father Trevor–when they are forced to re-evaluate their lives after discovering the reality behind the paternity of Trevor’s 8-year old daughter Maddy.
Kokowaah was Germany’s highest-grossing film of 2011 and the sequel recently opened at number one there.
Cooper will produce and Kim will be exec producer. As actor, he’ll next be seen starring in the Derek Cianfrance-directed The Place Beyond The Pines, and Serena. He’s also developing American Sniper and Dark Invasion, among others. He also stars in Cameron Crowe’s next pic, reteams with Jennifer Lawrence and David O Russell in Sony’s Abscam pic, and he reprises in The Hangover Part III.
The scribes wrote Draft Day, which has Kevin Costner attached to star at Summit/Lionsgate with Ivan Reitman attached to direct and produce through his Montecito Picture Company. Cooper’s repped by CAA as is Rothman. Joseph is represented by Gersh. Rothman and Joseph are also represented by Kaplan Perrone.

Black List lobbying aside, how was Draft Day as a script?
Mediocre actor who lacks any charisma and yet Hollywood wants to make it happen… Whatever.
Bradley is a great actor. He was wonderful in SLP. He also has a lot of charisma.
Please, it is too early to call Bradley a great actor.
So OVERRATED
Vicknair is a killer.
Its incredible! Moneyball meets Jerry Maguire
Ben Affleck 2.0
Sounds like season 1 of Nip Tuck minus the plastic surgery and creepy son giving himself a circumcision.
Kokooowha-whaaa? Nobody gives a frack about a non-translateable German film. Draft Day on the other hand is going to be amazing! Can’t wait to see that. With Costner anchoring it should turn out to be quite the picture.
FYI: Kokowääh is the German spelling of how one would pronounce the french Coq-au-Vin, which is a french dish the Bradley Cooper character is trying to cook for his daughter….
I’ve seen the German version, It is a great project for Cooper.
We’re not making this Koko Wah Wah until Cooper does Hangover 4 for us, then and only then will we let him direct this strange picture. I want Hangover 4 to film as fast as possible take the boys back to Las Vegas and remake the first film and don’t waste money on a new script just use the first script again and that will be good enough.
Kokowäh was one of the best movies that have been shown in Germany. With a lot of humor, romance and action and a wonderful soundtrack. If Bradley Cooper can repeat almost, he will have great success!
