Brett Ratner has joined with Six Eleven Media to produce a TV version of the successful online game FarmVille. The Hercules director and the Canadian production company aim to make a half hour animated series out of the farming simulation social networking game. “FarmVille is one of the most exciting brands out there today and its cross-platform opportunities are endless. I am thrilled to be expanding the brand with existing fans and also
engaging a whole new audience,” said Ratner in a statement Thursday. No network is attached currently to the proposed FarmVille series. Ratner will serve as executive producer with Six Eleven Media’s Kirk Schenck & Charles Bishop and Independent producer Nina Gelb. FarmVille was launched in 2009 by game maker Zynga and has become one of the most popular games on Facebook and MSN Games. A FarmVille 2 sequel was released last Fall. Ratner’s upcoming Hercules, with Dwayne Johnson in the title role, is set to be released by Paramount on August 8, 2014.

A perfect marriage of producer and product!

Coming soon to your TV: Popup notifications about your friend’s carrots.
Why?
Battleship 2: Farmville the game tv series.
This will be an important television series.
Ratner & Farmville? No wonder my friends are having difficult times finding funding for their films, because a crap director is handed a crap game.
Man, we are a stupid race, chasing bits of green paper so we can buy crap we don’t need all to impress our friends.
OK Hollywood…if all the creativity has been used up and we’re basing shows on Farmville, you might as well pack up and go home. Turn the lights off on your way out of town please.
I’m hoping this is an Onion headline accidentally posted here…
Gak, this sounds bad. But I’d watch Plants vs Zombies: The TV Series.
I’d LOVE a plants vs zombies tv series
But, but, but, the game got boring after a few months….this will have no legs.
Seriously!?!? SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!
Very excited about this project. The more Hollywood can consolidate the things I hate the better I can avoid them.
This is so much more up Ratner’s alley then anything legit.
good for him.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…. (caugh, choke…) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
I actually think this could be amazing… If they get the right writers…
Nope, I’m done. Brett, ya blew it.
50 million players will tune in. This is genius marketing. If series is good … It will launch big!! Networks can’t launch shows any more. This is the biggest launch pad for a show short of the Super Bowl.
