EXCLUSIVE: There has been an accident on the set of the CBS drama NCIS: Los Angeles during the filming of a key episode, which serves as a backdoor pilot for a planted spinoff series. I’ve learned that a steadicam operator was pinned against something last night, suffering serious injuries. He is currently in the hospital. Production was shut down immediately following the accident. It is resuming today. Written by Shane Brennan, the spinoff episode of NCIS: LA is toplined by Kim Raver and John Corbett.
This is the third major accident on a set of a TV show since the beginning of the year. In January, a stuntman suffered serious head injuries during filming of ABC’s series Castle, with a guest actress also hurt. And two weeks ago, a helicopter pilot, a cameraman and a cast member died in a helicopter crash while filming a new reality TV series for Discovery Channel.

Bad omen for the spin-off?
Thanks for the info Nellie. I hope to God this camera operator recovers. I don’t watch this particular program, but, you never want to see anyone become seriously hurt. Situations such as these just serve to remind us (tv fans) everything that goes into keeping us entertained. I wish him an extremely quick recovery-I really do.

OK, so you named the writer of the episode and the two actors. How about the guy who actually got injured?
Do you really think this is a bad omen for a spin off series?
