Nearly two months after Jake Tapper joined CNN, his upcoming weekday show finally has a name. “For those catching the new CNN promo that’s right our new show will be called The Lead,” the news network’s chief Washington correspondent today announced via Twitter. CNN has said the new show will air at 4 PM daily, but there still has been no announcement of when The Lead is actually debuting — all CNN will say is that it is premiering in March. Federico Quadrani has left MSNBC to serve as executive producer on the new show. The Lead will take an hour off Wolf Blitzer’s long-running The Situation Room when it debuts. Tapper actually made his hosting debut on CNN at 10 PM on February 7, fronting the documentary An American Hero: The Uncommon Valor Of Clint Romesha. The doc averaged 588,000 viewers with 145,000 in the adults 25-54 demographic.

“The Lead” is just going to get buried given CNN’s low ratings.
Good luck to Jake and CNN. I hope there is at least some success ahead for both.
Wow, what a ratings king.
They should hire Keith Olbermann, it would be one of the few networks he hasn’t worked at yet. I’ve even got a great title for the show;
Loonatic: with Keith Olbermann
If Zucker wants to attract some new viewers he’ll have to hire some big name conservative hosts, which will never happen.
CNN deserves the success it’s working so hard to gain back. They do truly have some of the most talented news journalists on TV. I hope this works out for Jake Tapper. I’m not that aware of his work but I’m open to his addition.
I read Jake’s new book about the 8 marines in Afganistan and it was great reporting. I am really looking forward to his show because of his honesty and humility
Jake is a great reporter and should have been tapped for the ABC Sunday show that George scooted into. He is one of the few reporters who has enough integrity to challenge Carney about many of his ridiculous statements. Hope he does well.
