EXCLUSIVE: Hustle & Flow helmer Craig Brewer will adapt to direct Gangster Princess Of Beverly Hills for Paramount. The drama is based on a Rolling Stone article published last summer about Lisette Lee, who portrayed herself to be an heiress to the Samsung fortune, as well as an actress, singer and model. She faked all of that, and beneath the bling were secrets, lies and private jets filled with weed. She was a drug mule, caught trafficking 500 pounds of pot into Ohio, for which she drew a six-year sentence. The article was written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely. Erwin Stoff is producing.
After his Sundance sensation Hustle & Flow, Brewer directed Black Snake Moan and last helmed the Footloose remake. He also was one of the writers who scripted the Tarzan project at Warner Bros that landed David Yates to direct. Brewer is also directing for Fox the pilot Boomerang, which stars Felicity Huffman and Anthony LaPaglia.
Brewer is repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.

This is one of the most unsympathetic, slimy, pathetic characters ever.
There is no way this can work, unless they let the audience in through another character. But to tell it from Lee’s POV is, in my opinion, a terrible idea.
And she fit so well into that world.
I remember the article being very interesting, but I’m sure having a movie made about her is exactly what the psychopathic Lee would want.
I read the Rolling Stone article and Lissette Lee is a sociopath.
She’s a very unsympathetic character. Good luck giving her character any human qualities.
Brewer is a clueless director, so I’m sure he’s grasping for anything he can get at this point.
Craig Brewer is definitely not clueless.
Clueless?? I think not. I would love to have the opportunity to work with him!!
Tell it thru Spalter’s POV!
