BREAKING: The Weinstein Company acquired worldwide rights to David O. Russell’s upcoming project The Ends Of The Earth. Jennifer Lawrence, who is up for for an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook, will star. Scripted by Oscar-nominated Argo scribe Chris Terrio, the film is produced by Todd Black, Steve Tisch and Jason Blumenthal of Escape Artists. Russell signed his deal last night, and Harvey Weinstein expects this to be close to Django Unchained in terms of the epic size and budget.
Lawrence just enlisted in Russell’s next film, the untitled Abscam film that also stars Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.
Black and Tisch said “Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most versatile actresses we have ever seen. Her performance in Silver Linings was transcendent and was truly the heart and soul of the film. Jennifer was basically asked to play 4 personalities — depressed, sexy, romantic and a wild dancer — and did them all brilliantly. After seeing that performance we knew we had our anchor for Ends Of The Earth. Her dedication to the craft and all those who work with her is inspiring and if she is the future of our business we are certainly in good hands.”
Russell added, “Jennifer possesses a self-deprecating humor that made all of the cast and crew feel at ease. She is that kind of person.” He went on to say, “She is the most dedicated person I know. She is devoted to her family and they have been the true inspiration for her character and integrity. Her acting is effortless and she always makes it look easy.”
The film is an American epic, fact-based love story about a powerful oil tycoon Ernest Marland, who has everything stripped from him after he is caught in an affair.

A quick note about Chris Terrio. The other night I was scrolling down the Black List from 2010 and saw that “Argo” placed in the middle of the pack. What sums up the futility of the Black List, of Hollywood agents and assistants, and the general evaluation script process better than realizing that the likely screenwriting Oscar script placed behind a litany of bizarre scripts no one has since heard of?
Also worth noting – “Hunger Games” did even worse.
How boring is this? David O Russel needs to move on from his cash cow, there are other really good young actresess in Hollywood and beyond.

Jennifer Lawrence was attached to Ends of The Earth LONG before Russell came into the picture. She was on this project for years.
DOR worked with Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, and Christian Bale twice counting the upcoming Abscam picture. Obviously he has a group of actors he feels comfortable directing. Jennifer Lawrence is a major talent.
What kind of a stupid comment is that? Maybe George Cukor shoudn’t have made so many films with his cashcow Katherine Hepburn. Or Marty Scorcese should have turned his back on that guy Di Niro after Mean Streets. Since when is the prospect of two top talents working together more than once a bad idea? Boring is people make comments like this just to make comments.
You’re high if you think De Niro and Scorsese (learn to spell their names and put some thoughtfulness into your comment) pairings are comparable to this dreary lazy replication, or that Lawrence is comparable to Hepburn. People aren’t clamoring for more of this.
I bow to your superior spelling. Katherine Hepburn was referred to as “box office poison” at one point in her career. Maybe you want to let history decide if these two highly gifted artists will enter the Hollywood pantheon. Meanwhile, I don’t know what you do but I would go very far out of my way to work with either of them. Best to you and your judgement.

They’ll insistently drag it out too long refusing to admit their error, keep making stinkers, then they’ll start sticking her in ensembles [like they did with Aniston,] and then B movies and fade away. But it will take too long and plague us with too many bad movies taking up resources where good movies might’ve been made.
Saying Russell shouldn’t do more movies with Jennifer Lawrence is like saying Tarantino shouldn’t do multiple movies with Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz or Scorcese with DeNiro or Mike Nichols with Meryl Streep or John Ford shouldn’t do multiple movies with John Wayne, or Hitchcock with Jimmy Stewart, etc.
That’s interesting. The leading male has to be 54y/o according to the script, if I’m correct. He’d play her husband. Lawrence clearly is here to stay as she’s being paired with actors in their thirties, fourties and now over fifty.

It looks like great actresses above 30 will no longer get a decent part.
It is ridiculous and it says a lot about the standards in Hollywood that a 22 year old gets teamed with men of 30, 40 and 50, next will be 60.
Nothing to dow ith acting, money, buckets of money and hype.
There are so many great novels out there that have great real women central, write a script from that,
or write new stuff.

She’s the champ. I remember seeing the movie at the Toronto Film Festival, Lawrence is such an astute actress and she displays such a winning confidence and as I noted before she has ‘heat’. She has a star quality, she has immense acting skills and her choices are so smart for one so young (she’s 22).bright future for sure

Jennifer isn’t winning all these awards and garnering so much success and recognition because of dumb luck. It’s because of her talent.Every director and actor that works with Jennifer Lawrence says the exact same thing, that she is brilliant and overwhelming talented.
She’ll be around for quite a while … like Lauren Bacall (a youngster playing a woman) starting out strong and taking it from there. If she (or her handlers) chooses well, she can be a long-running versatile success.

It’s an incest story. Lawrence’s character is raised by an uncle type and when she grows up they fall in love. kind of a woody allen type situation, I guess.

i’ve read the script and sorry, but it IS a kind of incest. he was her father figure, not by blood, but that does NOT MATTER– he raised her from a very very young age (8 years i believe?) and related to her as a father. it’s based on a true story– and a tragic one, as their strange relationship (they both had huge emotional wounds) would ultimately ruin them both.
She is the Meryl Streep of this generation.She’ll have her share of haters cause thats what haters do. She’s incredibly talented and will be around for a long time thank God!!!

And Meryl Streep is a highly trained phenom who worked hard at her craft for years and gives the audience the best quality and finely crafted performances. seriously, please, don’t compare the highly overrated Jennifer Lawrence to Meryl Streep. That is an enormous insult to Meryl. Streep was classically trained and has decades of acting experience. Lawrence has little acting experience , and she is not a trained actress. Plus, it always shows in her performances. Currently, Jennifer brings no depth and no acting skills to her roles, because she only plays herself.
I’m pretty sure she’s the youngest actress to ever have two Best Actress nominations.
When bright young stars are discovered like Jennifer, Hailee Steinfeld and Chloe Grace Moretz, it’s cause for celebration. But, depressingly, haters gotta hate. What else do they have to do?

Jennifer lawrence has amazing talent and nobody can deny that. the people who will get tired of her is the jealous ones. shes incredible and true to not only herself but everyone else around her. shes literally the full package, you couldnt ask for more
