We will see more of former U.S. Marshall Lee Toric on FX‘s Sons Of Anarchy. Donal Logue, who introduced the character in the last three episodes of SOA‘s fifth season, will be back in Season 6 for a major arc, reprising the character of Toric, forced into retirement because of his history of violence. Logue and SOA creator Kurt Sutter had talked for years about Logue guesting on the show before the timing finally worked, so it makes sense for Sutter to keep the actor around for a little longer.

YES! He was so fantastic. I think he’s the one behind Tara’s arrest… we’ll see. Now I’m waiting for Jimmy Smits to jump on board for season 6. Smits and Sagal, Logue, Perlman, Coates were my favorite part of a so-so season 5.
It makes sense because of the recurring theme of eye-for-eye justice on the show: daughter for daughter (Pope/Tig,) old lady for old lady (Half-Sack’s comments about Gemma and Clay’s response with Cherry,) crowbar for crowbar (“let’s find Fat Albert and cave his skull in,”) and in this case motherless children for motherless children.
He needed to come back , their were doors that were left open after last season , kinda disappointing , how they killed off opie , and Kurt said in interviews that is wasn’t in vain , then nothing really happened . I hope this season is better .
sutter only killed opie to stop people from bitching about him not having the balls to kill off a main cast member after clay didn’t die in s4.
Opie would of killed clay if it was not for pussy jax saving him.
Yep, nailed it. His death was pointless. I think Sutter said that his death was meant to make the viewers understand why Jax made such a ‘dark turn’ in season 5 but a best friend’s death does not justify a) pimping out your mother, no matter how awful you think she has been, she did not deserve it b) drugging up Wendy was sooo messed up and c) betraying Tara and feeding her so many empty promises. Yep, I really hated season 5. Donal Logue was one of the few highlights.
Nope, you’re both wrong. Sutter killed Opie’s death serves as a catalyst for Jax becoming a ruthless leader. Love this show, but 75% of its fans are clueless.
Clueless? Talk about being delusional… Damn, it’s just a different of opinion. And yes, I know he said “catalyst” (Which can be seen as a “reasoning” or “justification” of Jax’s season 5 actions) but it still doesn’t make sense to me. Different strokes, man. Relax.
Season 2 remains the best season.
So many people don’t seem to have a clue about what happened with Opie, He was originally supposed to die in season 1, not Donna. He was always meant to be a small character and there was no other story for him, but he became so popular that Kurt decided to keep him on longer. He needed to die so that Jax could become the ruthless president that he now is, it was that death that changed everything and will continue to play a huge role in Jax’ life and his decisions right through til the end of season 7 (the end of the show) I loved Op but his death was necessary for the story to continue its path. Kurt is a brilliant writer and everything he does has meaning.
Now i cannot wait for season six
And season five was great. Had no issues with it but thats just me….
Then again i loathe gemma and clay…
Um, but Clay is still alive and Gemma got what she wanted in the end. If I loathed these characters, I would’ve hated season 5, hahaha. My issue with season 5 lies way deeper than just not liking certain characters.
Charlie Hunnam OWNED season 5 of Sons of Anarchy, can’t wait to see him mix it up with Donal as Jax and Toric finally come face to face is season 6!
totally agree with you. Can’t wait. Love who Jax has become. Like he said he has finally found his way.
Cannae wait till season six half way through season five fucking awesome keep up the good work
of course, donal’s character was an obvious set up for next season.
@ant
yeah, ope’s death sucked big time, but that marked the loss of innocence for the show. it began transformations in many characters and was ‘the beginning of the end’ so to speak. it wasn’t in vain but yeah, still sucks.
Love the actor.. HATE the storyline. So much was wrong with S5 but I guess not so many people thought so.
I completely agree.
If it wasn’t for 75% of the cast, I would’ve stopped watching this show somewhere mid-season 4. But most of the cast is so great and so underrated.
Same here. season 2 will always remain the best, IMO. It’s really too bad last season had to go the way it did because all of the actors are top notch and deserve better.
And I just mean the 4 main actors (Charlie, Maggie, Katey and Ron).. So good, yet their characters’ storylines suffered in a big way in S5.
Charlie Hunnam should have been nominated for an Emmy for season 5!!
The way the death of Opie colors the season, is evident in all the horrible things Jax does, his drive to avenge Opie, revenge Clay, free the club are stemming from his guilt over Opie. His coldness is him turning inward, turning on Tara, Wendy, and his Mom.
For those who don’t like Darthy Jax, he’s going to get uglier and meaner. He’s not a hero. He’s a tortured king of a criminal empire.
I just love how I went from hating Clay so much to feeling a teensy bit of empathy and loads of satisfaction. And now I really hate Gemma. That’s great writing and stellar performances. S5 lasts all of 6 weeks maybe, S4 was 2 months? With about 1 month in between, that means it’s only been maybe 5 months since they got out of prison. 2 years for us, 5 months for them. It kinda makes all the stuff that’s happened to the club even more tragic and compelling. Can’t wait to see how Toric will mix it up in S7.
I didn’t care for season 5 either. Season 2 is also my favorite. I am all for the usual violence (ha), but watching Opie’s head being used like a baseball knocked me over the edge. Not to mention Tig’s kid being burned alive and the rat prison guard & his wife meeting their end, too. I want to be entertained. I don’t want to have to take aspirin and elevate my feet after a tv show.
This is the best comment on here, so true. I loved season 5, opie’s death does suck but it had to happpen
All of the seasons are great and tiggs kid and opie death was intense but that’s what makes the show great..
I don’t believe that Jax turned on Tara, I think he was in shock; he was very concerned throughout the season about her going to prison. I think Toric taped her argument with Gemma & I hope to God that Jax gets to hear the recording! My concern is that to get her out, the club will have to go back to drug/gun running ( a deal with Cartel perhaps?) & so all the hard work will be undone. I think Tara is probably pregnant which is why she was so desperate to leave Charming. We have to remember that Tara knows Gemmas secret re: John Tellers death, and will no doubt one day use it… although she has resisted to date. Hopefully we will see Tara and Jax working as a team this season & Tara more involved in the Club, I also hope that Jax will man up to his Mum & therefore allow Tara to be First Lady. Tara will kill Toric to save Jax, her first intentional or ‘cold blooded’ kill.
One transformation I’ve liked that hasn’t been mentioned much, besides Jax becoming more like Clay and Tara becoming more like Gemma, is Roosevelt becoming more like Unser, after coming in and insisting things were going to be different. Look at how he pretty much knew Jax framed Clay for killing Pope and didn’t really care.
I agree last season sucked for me I hope it’s better this season, can’t stand Tara & I like Grmma, hate that they killed off Opie!
