EXCLUSIVE: Edwin Hodge (Red Dawn) has become the first series regular cast in CBS’ NCIS: LA spinoff project. The project, from NCIS: LA executive producer/showrunner Shane Brennan, is a back-door pilot will air as an episode of NCIS: LA later this season titled Red. It follows a mobile team of agents who are forced to live and work together as they crisscross the country solving crimes. Hodge, repped by Pakula/King & Assoc. and The Priluck Co., will play Kai Ashe, the incredibly bright, witty and likable technical assistant, an all-round tech savvy computer guy and expert on everything. Hodge’s casting in the NCIS: LA spinoff comes on the heels of him guest starring in an episode of the mothership NCIS series this past fall. He was a regular on the WB’s Jack & Bobby and has recurred on Cougar Town as Busy Phillips’ love interest.

So in other words he is playing pratically the same role his brother did in “Leverage”.
I was wondering if they were brothers. And the fact he’s playing the EXACT same role? *SMH*
So what’s this guy’s knowledge of computers in real life? Seems the CBS casting big wigs would have been better off looking into casting someone with such a background.
And hey, why don’t they just hire real crime fighting Naval investigators. Yeah, in fact CBS should fire everyone from Mark Harmon, LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell down and recast only actors…oops…real people… who served in the military…oops…the Navy or Marines… to play all the roles on these shows. Cause actors??? They aren’t supposed to be able to “act like” anything other than what they really are, i.e. an ex-college QB, a rapper and former Hollywood It-Guy.

Wonderful casting! I saw him in an episode of Leverage (where his brother had a starring role) and he absolutely caught my attention as an actor. I can’t wait to see what he does in a leading role!

Is it too much to ask David James Elliott or Catherine Bell back in a guest spot as their old characters? You know to give closure. The season premiere of NCIS LA this year would’ve been perfect consider Chris O’Donnell’s character murdered someone. Wouldn’t JAG be involved?

as long as there is no ziva like character where 2-5 episodes of each season revolve around them & their “family”. im loved the first 2 seasons of ncis but im liking ncis la a lot better now. the original has become a bit stagnant for a few seasons now
Yeah, spending episodes and whole seasons talking about Callens Eastern European mafia family or whatever almost made me give up on the show. Ridiculous.
A huge Congratulations to Edwin Hodge! And yea, the show has a long blood line, but like was stated earlier “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!” I do believe that Edwin will certainly be able to hold his own. Looking forward to the premiere!
