BREAKING: Ken Stovitz has joined Paradigm as a senior agent and will begin working in the agency’s Beverly Hills offices beginning this Monday, March 4. He walks in the door repping Jada Pinkett Smith and Jaden Smith, after working extensively with both at Overbrook Entertainment. Stovitz will join the Paradigm Management Committee, which oversees the agency’s day to day operations. There has been a lotta movement of clients and agencies lately, particularly with Jeff Berg’s launch of Resolution. For Paradigm, Stovitz is a good get, a seasoned agent who knows what he’s doing.
“Ken Stovitz is an invaluable addition to our senior management team,” said Sam Gores, Chairman and CEO of Paradigm. “He is a savvy executive, has incredible taste, an excellent reputation and we share a vision for the agency’s future, which he will be a key architect in building.”
“Sam is giving me the opportunity to work side by side with him and the management committee to grow the agency at a time when the cycle is shifting in favor of the artist,” said Ken Stovitz. “The creators of entertainment art will have a much stronger say in their destiny and I am very excited to get started.”
Stovitz comes to Paradigm from Will Smith’s Overbrook, where he was a partner with Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and James Lassiter in establishing the production company as a force in the industry. Prior to Overbrook, Stovitz was an agent at CAA for many years accumulating an impressive client list that included Will Smith, Kathryn Bigelow, Amy Heckerling, Brian de Palma, Irwin Winkler, Doug Liman and The Wayans Bros.
While at Overbrook, the company produced 7 films including The Karate Kid, Seven Pounds, Hancock and the upcoming After Earth starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith. The company also produced the TNT series Hawthorne and is prepping the Queen Latifah talk show.
“I have been so fortunate to be a part of Overbrook,” said Stovitz. “Together we made films, television and music that we are proud bears our name.”

He’s a class act. Great fit with Paradigm.
Oh God here we go again ROTFL!
There’s definitely something more to this story. You don’t leave Will Smith to join Paradigm.
There may well be more to it. However it could be as simple as this: being an agent (particularly a successful one) takes a certain, specific type of personality and if you have that personality you won’t likely be content doing anything else. Perhaps he simply realized this but also wanted to retain the ability to call the shots as he did at Overbrook. That combo would land him directly at Paradigm.
Stovitz didn’t call any shots at Overbrook. He had no power whatsoever. That is a fact. It is JL’s fiefdom period and there was no room for him at the top of Overbrook…
That makes sense; I don’t know anything about how Overbrook works. I would still imagine he had more day to day freedom than at CAA, given how bureaucratic the agency is. He probably wanted the freedom producing afforded but then he had neither real power nor real challenges. Maybe the Paradigm move was him finally figuring out how to get what he really wanted?
Something more, yes, especially as it’s amicable and planned, but to say you ‘don’t’ make that move isn’t correct…what do you think will was paying him, and on produced material how much was coming out of will’s pie? You don’t think Sam Gores bettered that by….a lot, plus gave him some actual decision making ability, where as talented as he may be, he was low man on the partner totem pole and you can’t forget caa’s leverage which placed him there in the first place. are these the reason’s? i surely don’t know, but stop with the paradigm can’t compare, because its just money….and sams got a lot of it and thus he compare real good.
Wow! That’s a great hire for Paradigm.
Good stuff here.
Infamously awful to everyone below him at Overbrook once he came over there. Nice that Will and James finally woke up to it.
Bingo. Couldn’t agree more.
exactly! and whatever he was in the past at caa, he’ll have a lot to rebuild at a fledgling company. my bigger issue is – here we go again with Sam hiring yet ANOTHER new person to run their talent dept. figure it out already.
He is also an actor – will he be move back into acting
impressive?? Amy Heckerling??? hum
Terrific. Great guy and a great agency.
Ken is a wonderful addition. Excited to see what unfolds in the coming weeks.
Heard it was between Paradigm and Innovative…APA is still waiting for Ken to call them back.
Stovie baaabyyyy!!! Good to have you back man.
HUMM i guess i can go over to Will’s place – job opening
wonder what happened ??
I hope Jaden does Karate Kid 2 and 3 now that he is at Paradigm.
Brilliant match.
Congrats! This a great win for Paradigm. Great things to come.
The new Robert Stein! Another great buy, for the Gores Bros!
Well, Stovitz went to Overbrook and then they proceeded to make practically ZERO projects. The guy probably got tired of having nothing to do. I like Will Smith, but for as hard as he claims to work, they rarely put out any projects.
replacements??
Put me in the “there’s gotta be more to this story column.”
Great things are developing at Paradigm and Stovitz’ addition is just a key part. Now focus your attention back to what ol’ Resolution is up to Hollywood. haterati, some of us have work to do.
Great things? will somebody please list all the clients that have left there in the past 12 months. Its mass exodus over there.
I just can’t imagine someone just leaving (on their own will at least) partnership at Overbrook Entertainment after the successful run the company has had to go back to being a senior agent.
Ken Stovitz probably had a significant effect in helping Will Smith get the right kind of projects together, so I’m hoping at least that they are still in good terms, and continue to produce movie magic.
I always get a kick out of reading the negative comments. Ken is a classy guy. Always treated me great when I was an assistant and would return my calls and take meetings with me when I was NOT an assistant. A great guy who probably missed agenting. Good for him and GREAT for Paradigm. Paul
This is a great move for Paradigm. Onwards and Upwards. Don’t look back. A few years ago Ben Affleck was a joke. Now look at him. He is on top. Paradigm is on its way up now.
Not analogous, Paradigm was never on top. Ben is back on top.
Look at the crap that comes out of OVERBROOK-
junk-o-la Did Ken have to give notes on these awful projects or is the James the rapper in charge of notes..yikes
Ken isnt a producer he is an actor/agent
