Fox’s 2004 extreme makeover reality series The Swan is coming back in a celebrity version. The network has greenlighted Celebrity Swan, a two-hour special to air later this year. I hear FremantleMedia and producer Arthur Smith, who were behind the original plastic surgery series, will be back for the special, which will feature female celebrities looking to reinvent themselves for a comeback. They will undergo a physical, psychological and career “extreme makeover” with the help of a coach, therapist, trainer, cosmetic surgeons and a dentist as cameras follow them through the transformative process. Casting is currently underway through The Conlin Co. and no celebrities have been set, though I’ve heard the names of former White House intern Monica Lewinsky and Happy Days alumna Erin Moran as possibilities. Production is slated to begin this spring. The Swan was created by Nely Galán, and her company Galan Entertainment will be producer on the celebrity special. Each episode of the original series featured two “ugly ducklings” women, one of whom moved on to compete in the Swan pageant at the end of the season for a chance to be crowned The Swan. After a solid start, ratings for The Swan dropped, leading to its cancellation after two seasons.

Isn’t former telemundo executive nely galan involved as producer and on-air “life coach” She went into the apprentice boasting “the swann” as her big credit.
Is the show about a football player?
LOL. the network that acts like a clown,
It mirrors the man who runs the reality side
This show is evidence for the decline of Western civilization. C’mon.
Do you think they’ll get Joan Rivers to host this time?
I used to work-out at the same health club where the “swans” trained. It was the proverbial train wreck. Actually, more like a freak show. And so will the reincarnation…
I used to work out at a health club and once saw a swan at a zoo and have ridden trains.
This shows why all of fox’s new shows failed this year except for following
Oh my, I thought we had seen the last of Nely Galan. What was I thinking?
You were thinking we’d seen the last of Nely Galan. And were wrong.
Can’t wait to see the level of ‘celebrities’ Nely ropes into this career killer. Maybe they can swim right from the Celebrity Diving Show to The Swan. And people wonder why prime-time viewing is down? Let’s get some creativity and originality guys!
Mike Darnell should be fired for bringing this to the forefront to begin with and why Reilly would even allow this pile of shit for a show to air on his network is just flat-out disgusting. Going back to the Gail Berman days of ruining this network, I suppose. And we all wonder why broadcast TV is suffering in the ratings right now!
I totally laughed my ass off when i read this. Seriously….its nothing but a mind vacation. Fox is going retro…again….Hahaha…
Mind vacation…hilarious, that’s what all reality tv is, one big mind vacation.
This was an awful, awful show. Please don’t bring it back!
Don’t watch.
Keep waiting to see NG in “Get Me Out of Here, I’m a Celebrity.”
It’s despicable. Even if television is increasingly heading into special live events and shorter, compact seasons, no one wants The Swan back. It was an insult to us all last time and it will be again.
This is going to flop as hard as the celebrity diving special they aired recently.
Waaahhhooo..!!! I’m so glad FOX chose to bring back The Swan. I was on season 2 and would do it again in a heartbeat..!!
I’ll wait for the Oxygen knock-off called “Fugly Duckling”
So, why don’t they have makeover shows for real people? I am sick of hearing about Celebs getting cosmetic makeovers, kids that have been bullied getting $40,000 worth of work, I thought that built character. What about the regular hard working women in their 40′s that have taken care of everyone else and would love a chance at cosmetic work? The reason the swan failed is because they made them compete in a Beauty padgent and degraded them in the end. Why not just give an older women back some of the beauty they lost in real life. Now that is reality.
I loved this show….can’t wait to see it! Really like how it changed those womens lives…How do I sign up???
I refuse to watch someone become more attractive to stroke their ego especially when nothing is wrong. It sends the wrong messages to young girls. These ladies are pretty can afford it and don’t need it. Other women who do need it or think they do are out there that’s an interest to some. This has no interest at all. It’s as bizzare as Kim Richards (RHBH) getting a nose job. Shame on you for thinking this is valuable television. Only PPL with no life will watch beauty queens get surgery.
Im a 41 year old woman and i watched the swan all the time and was even trying to get on the show, i cryed when they took it off the air because as long as it was on air i had a chance to become beautiful or st least pretty or even good looking but now i have no chance of it what so ever unless they bring the show back, I have gone through so much in my life and i would love to have something good going for me. But i think if they was to bring it back i would have a chance, then my Dad rip and my mom would be so proud of me and i would have nothing to be ashamed of!!!!!!
Celebrities already have money, the show should help regular people with real problems!
