John Corbett is set as the male lead in the NCIS: LA planted spinoff, which will originate as an episode of NCIS: LA airing later this season titled “Red”. The project, from NCIS: LA executive producer/showrunner Shane Brennan, follows a mobile team of agents who are forced to live and work together as they crisscross the country solving crimes. Corbett will play Analyst Roy Quaid, a former NCIS Special Agent forced to retire from active service. While no longer an active agent, Roy is the most experienced investigator working for Red Team, a fact that’s not lost on any of the other agents. Corbett now joins Mark Harmon, LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell as the next leading man of the NCIS franchise. On the NCIS: LA spinoff, he joins recently cast Edwin Hodge as well as NCIS: LA‘s Miguel Ferrer, who will also cross over to the new series.
CBS has been high on the Northern Exposure and Sex And The City alum, also casting him as the lead of a drama pilot, Widow Detective, last season. Corbett, who has recurred on NBC’s Parenthood, signed with Gersh last fall and is managed by Steve Lovett.

While I am happy to see Corbett getting work (as a lead!), this is low. He did Northern Exposure and Lucky. Brilliant shows. Now he is in a CBS procedural. Corbett and Ferrer (who has done better work too, Broken Bades, On the Air, LateLine) deserve better than this.
I know that starring on your typical bland CBS procedural is getting you lots of money but as an actor you’re standing still. You cannot develop your craft. That’s why I’m always sad when I hear that my favorite actors are going to star on CBS. Why, oh why, Toni Collette? Why!?
Unfortunately, you have to do generic stuff to pay the bills.
Excited that Corbett got this! I’ve missed him.
I’m glad for Corbett to get this role. He will be making money for the rest of his life. I would love to see Mary Mccormack in the role of Paris. Her credits on “The West Wing” and “In Plain Sight” makes her the ideal pick for this upcoming franchise! Read the description and imagine her in this role. I know she will knock it out of the ballpark in this role! CBS and Gersh, lock her for this role now!
Special Agent Paris S.
Age: Early 40s
Qualities: Alluring, athletic and flirtatious, with a high I.Q. and a sharp tongue
Past: She has two ex-husbands, no kids and a Ph.D. in chemistry. Hobbies include golf and pistol shooting (she competed in the Olympics). Prefers to work solo.
They already have that character. Her name is “Faith Coleman”, played pitch perfectly by Alicia Coppola. Bring her aboard!
NCIS: Applebees.
NCIS: Hooters
It’s about time he gets his ass back to work…..
“NCIS: SPINOFF” but SPINOFF is an acronym it stands for Secret Police Investigators Navy Office and CBS better pay me the profits I am owed.
Is Bellisario going to have to sue again for comp from this spinoff?
he is awesome. i hope this show is up to his level.
Didn’t they try this already with Forrest Whitaker and Janeane Garofalo? I thought the concept was not bad, but Whitaker was as always a little bit too intense.
