FX’s American Horror Story has enlisted Oscar-winner Kathy Bates for its third season, Deadline has confirmed. TVLine first reported the casting. Bates joins the show after earning a pair of Emmy nominations for the first two seasons of NBC’s Harry’s Law, which was cancelled last May. American Horror Story series alums Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, and Lily Rabe are set to return for the horror anthology’s third cycle.

Still a horrible show
It is a hell of a lot more entertaining than the Walking Dead which for some reason everyone seems to love.
No. You’re wrong. It’s not.
Actually, he’s not wrong (entirely). The second season was horrible, scattered and unfocused. Felt like the final season of “Lost”.
Actually, I think you’re both wrong and right – it wasn’t the first season, which was so good, but it wasn’t unwatchable either. There is so little on TV these days that takes risks, succumbing to the network bores that only want the next big hit, at any cost. The acting is excellent, the concept is daring. Too violent? Yes. Meandering? Yes. Over the top? Yes. But it’s something to watch, beyond reality TV and procedural CBS**t. And the casting? FANTASTIC.
Snob! Lol
Nah, its actually a pretty fun and entertaining show to watch. Lange is a pistol. and brilliant. it should be a hoot watching Lange and Bates go head to head.
I wish her well. She’s a wonderful actress. To me ,the real American “Horror Story” was when those idiots at Nbc cancelled Harry’s Law. I miss that program soooo much.Well,at least Kathy will be on tv somewhere. Wish her all the best.
This is gonna be good.
She can bring her sledgehammer to the party.
BEST Casting News EVER !!!
I’m very happy and excited for Kathy Bates and the audience, who receives the real reward by getting to see her back on television.
The lunkheads over at NBC have no one but themselves to blame for their struggles, as evidenced by their moronic decision to cancel Harry’s Law just because it was skewing older. Older viewers comprise the most stable audience around. And David E. Kelly and co. gave NBC a top-shelf product in Harry’s Law, the like of which won’t be seen again for some time unfortunately.
The real “American Horror Story” is that older Oscar-winning actresses can only find work on shitty cable shows.
This woman can act man. Her Off Broadway performance with Kenneth Welsh in McNally’s “Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune” remains memorable for me decades later.
awesome. the quality of this show is made obvious by the great actors it continually attracts. speaking of, i hope Cromwell comes back.
