EXCLUSIVE: The Kill Hole, starring Sons Of Anarchy‘s Tory Kittles as an ex-Marine with a vendetta and 42‘s Chadwick Boseman as the Iraq veteran tasked with bringing him down, will open theatrically in New York on March 15 via RBC Films. A DVD release will follow April 9. The indie action-thriller from first-time director Mischa Webley aims to take advantage of Boseman’s mainstream debut as Jackie Robinson opposite Harrison Ford in 42, which Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures are releasing April 12. But the pic’s PR push seems to also capitalize on the pic’s apparent parallels to ex-LAPD cop Christopher Dorner, whose vendetta against the LA Police Department led to the murders of four people, a manhunt, and culminated this week in a nationally televised gunfight standoff in the Southern California mountains.
Kill Hole involves a black ex-military sniper who targets associates of a military contracting organization and hides out in the wilderness. In the trailer (see it below), Kittles is seen firing a gun in public and wielding a rifle, clad in camo, in heavily wooded terrain. A rep for the film claims theatrical dates were already being finalized for their veteran-on-a-rampage pic when Dorner allegedly commenced the headline-grabbing events that left four dead and initiated one of the largest and most publicized manhunts in recent history. After opening in limited release in New York, Kill Hole will expand to Portland, Los Angeles, and possible additional markets.
The RBC Film Group and Alternate Ending Studios co-production was written and directed by cab driver-turned-filmmaker Webley, who tapped non-actor war veterans to fill out the cast. Billy Zane and Peter Green also star in the pic, which screens at the 2013 Pan African Film Festival this week in Los Angeles. Zach Hagen and Jason Krawczyk produced for Alternate Ending Studios and Brian Shafton, Ben Grossi and Mike Regen executive produced for RBC Film Group. Robert Lieberman of Fischbach, Perlstein, Lieberman & Almond and Evan Krauss of Gray Krauss Stratford Des Rochers LLP struck the deal for RBC and Alternate Ending, respectively, with sales rep Brandon Baker of Baker Productions & Representation.
Boseman previously starred on ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights and NBC’s Persons Unknown and is repped by Management 360, PMK*BNC, and Greene & Associates. Meanwhile, Kittles will have a busy month: He follows Kill Hole with The Weinstein Co.’s The Sapphires and FilmDistrict’s Olympus Has Fallen, both out March 22. He is repped by APA.

Wow, powerful teaser. Cant wait to see this!
Having seen it, it bears more similarities to FIRST BLOOD than the current events being discussed here.
Um no, I don’t think so. I don’t think you’ve seen FIRST BLOOD, or at least in awhile.
While the Dormer case / soon-to-be-film is definitely SERPICO meets FIRST BLOOD, this trailer has little resemblance to the film FIRST BLOOD I grew up watching.
Dormer’s manifesto shows him as the Frank Serpico of cops, and the whole Big Bear jungle thing is John Rambo going up into the mountains in FIRST BLOOD. Remember, Rambo killed small town cops. John Rambo in FIRST BLOOD was the anti-hero. But we rooted for him because we saw how these red-neck Vietnam vet hating cops treated him. Just like the racist corrupt LAPD.
I don’t condone murder or vigilantism, but Dormer is the anti-hero we all love to root for.
And I doubt he’s dead. The body is another one of his brilliant tricks.
“I don’t think you understand. I didn’t come to rescue Rambo from you. I came here to rescue you from him.”
This reminds me of that Hollywood website with adverts of Southland splayed all over it in the aftermath of the Dorner manhunt…
Trailer looks really intriguing. Looking forward to the release in Portland!
I thought it was a rather excellent film. Also it’s former Marine not ex. Once a Marine always a Marine!!
Interesting.
After the CT incident, every network and studio frantically tried to edit or postpone projects that contained scenes barely similar to the real life situation.
But, when cops – not children – are the targets, filmmakers instead use the incident as a marketing launchpad.
Hi cynical critic, I don’t see how the producers are using this as a marketing launch pad when the film was finished last year and they are only a few months from release. If they held the marketing of the film until something like this happened then they would be clairvoyant and we all know producers are not that smart. It looks like a well crafted film, definitely want to see. I do like how it has stirred up a discussion.
Kudos Jake…it definitely is a well crafted film, produced by an amazing team of filmmakers from Alternate Ending Studios.
the Clairvoyant Producer
Cool Teaser! Old school feel, topic is timely, and they used real vets?? Seems like they aren’t taking advantage or glorifying the violence. Get off your lazy behind and make a movie, Cynical Critic, and Glass Houses. Then maybe you won’t feel the need to berate the industry which you so desperately crave attention from.
Makes me think of the old adage.. “Does art imitate life, or does life imitate art?”
There was no ploy to wait until certain events happened. The film was done being shot in 2010. Then went to Post. It’s been on the festival circuit.
I feel truly blessed to have been one of the real life Veterans to have been able to be involved with this project. The entire cast were stand up guys. They sincerely seemed thankful to the Military Veterans for our service. Mischa Webley was a fantastic director. I ouldn’t have asked for a better experience.
I have seen it. Don’t waste your money on this one. Definitely a B film. Poor acting, Poor plot. Far from reality.
