With a day to spare before filming is set to begin on the planted NCIS: LA spinoff on Monday, the project is now fully cast. After a flurry of supporting castings yesterday, the last role to close was the lead, Special Agent Paris. 24 and Grey’s Anatomy alumna Kim Raver has been tapped for the part, joining John Corbett who plays the male lead. Also cast in the backdoor pilot in a guest starring/potential recurring role is Kenneth Mitchell (Jericho). This marks the first installment in the NCIS, CSI or Criminal Minds franchises with a female lead. The project, from NCIS: LA executive producer/showrunner Shane Brennan, follows a mobile “Red” team of agents who are forced to
live and work together as they crisscross the country solving crimes. Paris is the athletic, smart, witty and bold leader of the Red team. She has a Degree in Forensic Science, can drive a golf ball 300 yards and has a brain snapping IQ in the 98th percentile. She prefers to, and often does, work alone. Mitchell, repped by CESD and manager Laura Berwick, plays the team’s respected and likable Logistics Officer Danny Gallagher. This marks a quick casting for Raver who only became available three weeks ago when her previous starring vehicle, the Lifetime pilot Secret Lives Of Wives, got a pass from the network. Raver, repped by WME and Mosaic, recurs on NBC’s freshman breakout Revolution.

Great to hear this news she was great on 24 and Grey’s, Glad to hear she is the female lead of this show!
Kim Raver was also really good on “Lipstick Jungle”. I may be the only person who remembers that show.
I assume by “This marks the first installment in the NCIS, CSI or Criminal Minds franchises with a female lead” you mean where a female is playing the leader of the team (as opposed to being a lead character on the show)… because otherwise I think Marg Helgenberger, Sela Ward, Elisabeth Shue, Melina Kanakaredes, and Janeane Garafolo, etc. would beg to differ.
Agreed. Seriously, Marg was and Shue is the female lead in CSI. With the exception of Cold Case and TGW, co-lead is as good as it gets on CBS. NCIS: Red sounds promising. My bet is that LA gets moved. Red goes after NCIS and 5-0 moves to the Tuesday 10/9 slot.
Yay for Kim! Loved her on Greys Anatomy!
So what is the name what this spin off, NCIS:?
Well, this thing had failure written all over it before the addition of Kim Raver. Now it’s been elevated to epic failure.
That’s just mean. Have you no humanity?
…uh, right. Because NCIS and NCIS:LOS ANGELES aren’t gigantic internationally syndicated hits or anything. My money’s on NCIS:RED, not you Dee Dee sweetheart.
NCIS:RED makes sense. From a scheduling perspective, is Tuesday night going to be NCIS/NCIS:LA/NCIS:RED?
My guess is CBS splits them up. NCIS is a powerhouse at 8:00 PM they could use as a lead-in for any new series including NCIS:RED. They could also shift NCIS:LA (a powerhouse in its own right) to another night, moving from it 9:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and use that as the lead-in for RED at the 9:00 PM time slot. The 10:00 PM time slot usually showcases more edgy fare. The NCIS franchise is many things, but “edgy” is not one of them.
Well, gee whiz. You put you money in the wrong place because this epic failure did NOT get picked up.
Love Kenneth Mitchell! He was great on Jericho and will help bring this new pilot to a high level I’m sure. The cast of this new NCIS: spin off RED is shaping up to be a strong ensemble. Can’t wait!!! Nice work Shane B and CBS
Christ, another ncis? I know it’s the number one show but I’m sorry, three of these shows is three too many –
With John Corbett in the cast, and now the addition of these two, I officially can’t wait! Guess that means I will have to watch carefully for the embedded pilot. Although I always watch NCIS, NCIS:LA just never worked for me.
May be one too many. Remember Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior?
Next up, NCIS:LA:RED:Big Bang Theory Survivor.
Don’t forget NCIS:Honolulu a.k.a. Hawaii Five-0.
Sounds GREAT, Raver, Corbett, and Mitchell! I’ve been waiting for Ken Mitchell to get another show. He was great on JERICHO
I am sorry but I am SICK of all these kind of shows. All it is is CRIME, CRIME, CRIME.
