We have learned that five senior NBC.com employees were laid off today. The list includes VPs Josie Ventura (VP Primetime Production), Emre Celik (VP Technology) and Robert Angelo (VP Late Night, Daytime & Mobile), Senior Quality Assurance Manager Jennifer Grant and Chris Himes, Supervising Digital Producer, SNL, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, 30 Rock. Word is that the shakeup is part of a restructuring and staff overhaul implemented by NBC’s new digital chief, EVP Digital Media Robert Hayes, who joined NBC last summer. The positions are expected to be refilled. With NBCUniversal as one of the main backers of Hulu, the content on NBC.com and Hulu often overlaps, challenging NBC.com to forge its own identity.

Generally, when positions are going to be re-filled…that’s called a firing…oh, and didnt nbc.com spread a virus this past weekend?
“The positions are expected to be refilled…” by his friends.
This will prompt a wave of pre-upfronts surprise belt-tightening at all the broadcasters (except CBS). So much dead weight out there. Good to put the fear of God into these folks right as they’re starting to roll on all these pilots. Watch your back!
It is typical when a company is purchased by another to bring in their own senior management.
NBC has the best mobile app there is. CBS is in dire need of hiring a team to create them one. CBS shows are the only ones I’m unable to watch on my iPhone when on the go, so I always so those last.
I know MOST of these execs. They needed to go. 2 I know were completely useless. I don’t blame the takeover… They just sucked at what they did. I worked there and know all about it. #kudos
Just relieved to have finally made Deadline. #psyched
