Syfy has renewed its supernatural drama Lost Girl for a fourth season, with 13 episodes set to begin airing in 2014. The current third season, which concludes next month, is averaging 1.3 million total viewers, 676,000 adults 18-49 and 721,000 adults 25-54 and is the No. 1 original cable drama in those demos in its time period. Anna Silk stars in the Canadian production, which was developed by Prodigy Pictures in association with Shaw Media and Showcase. Executive producers are Jay Firestone and Emily Andras. Vanessa Piazza and Wendy Grean are producers.

Surprised Anna Silk isn’t a household name.
Ana Silk is great, fan o”f Being Erica”.
Nobody is watching that show (it averages fewer than a million viewers, 0.3% of the U.S. population). Why would she be a household name?
Yay! This show has improved tenfold in third season. It’s so fun and surprisingly clever. Hope they manage to keep the same creative team moving forward.
Syfy is such a terrible cable net -not a surprise, really, since it’s owned by the dismal NBC/Universal. The fact that they have little involvement in the production costs of this Canadian made and financed series -they just pay a licensing fee to air here and it can’t be too high, considering how cheap NBC/U is- and their fake “happy, happy” look what we renewed announcement is a bit disingenuous. The show has to be a success in Canada as well, so let’s not pretend it was just Syfy viewers here that helped get it renewed.
The sad fact is that only thing they can generate is lame game shows -sold as “reality” series- that have only a tenuous connection to anything related to the genre they claim to have once loved. What scripted content they do engage in has had all of its originality leached from it because the demographic they seek has little mind to pay attention to anything more complex than watching idiots get scared in the dark.
Meanwhile, Lost Girl and Continuum offer more to fans who desire complex characters and stories that don’t talk down to them. Continuum may be a bit cheesy and ridiculous, but the acting is better than anything this cable net has made in years.
I tried to watch Continuum and could get past the first ten minutes. The acting was awful (especially the lead actress) and the writing was ridiculous in its attempts at fake-relevance.
It made it a perfect fit for Siffy, the bad acting and bad writing horror and wrestling network.
Ummm how does Syfy renew a show produced by Canadian network Showcase? Wouldn’t showcase have to do that? Or are they just announcing that Syfy will renew its agreement with showcase to air Lostgirl in America?Anyone know how much SyFy is paying to import this from Canada?
You’re exactly right. It’s not their series to renew, as it’s being produced in Canada for broadcast on Showcase. This is just a renewal on the rebroadcast contract that allows Syfy to air it in the US.
They have a similar deal with Showcase’s other big show, Continuum, who’s second season is set to air in April.
The renewal means more money for Showcase, which goes into more eps of Lost Girl, which means better production values and more episodes; it’s great news all around.
Hard to tell, but if they’re paying more than $100,000 per episode, they’re losing money.
Well guys I am so excited for airing season 4 in 2014. I live in Greece and the only way to see it is using y-tube or links that fans upload .It’s quite difficult and anxious to see what’s coming next.I just love this show I really wish sometimes that I lived in Canada.
It’s actually suppose to air in the fall of 2013 in Canada on Showcase (either September or October I believe) so you’ll be able to see it even sooner! Canada is an awesome place to live but Greece is exceptionally beautiful as well (especially Santorini).
No your wrong on that account. They’ve changed the schedule this year so that LG is broadcast only a week later in the US after it airs in Canada. It’s a bummer but I guess they didn’t want people to download it before it could get to the US. We poor Canadians have to wait for the US now. No more jumping ahead a few months like before.
That’s your opinion and it was worth every penny I spent for it. I happen to enjoy SyFy channel and the sci-fi genre, and have done so since I got my Ph.D in 1962. Of course I was thrilled when the Science Fiction debuted. No, not every program is perfect, but have you checked out the networks lately? OBTW, I also like action, comedy, and drama programs. They aren’t always perfect, either.
If you enjoy science-fiction, where do you watch it? Siffy hates SF and everything it airs has only, at best, a passing acquaintance with Science-Fiction.
Lost Girl is not SF and Continuum, well it’s so awful it’s hard to label it as anything without insulting the genre.
I just started watching lost girl this season I loved it so much I had to hit Netflix for a lost girl marathon for the previous seasons it has improved greatly from season to season and I can’t wait to see more
Instead of bitching about what Syfy is not how about supporting them for having the common sense to pick up Lost Girl in the first place. You just can’t please some people! So…Why try! Lost Girl is an awesome show that should always be celebrated for its entertainment and ingenuity. The actors have pulled off something that is entertaining as well as provocative. Just watch it and enjoy! Need I say more!
Lost Girl is a badly made show that very few actually like. Why would I congratulate Siffy for putting on yet another flop on their channel?
Completely agree, hate reality tv. Too fundamental and so boring. Can see same show watching neighbors house!
Here is the actual rating info for Lost Girl:
Episode 03-10: Monday, 03/25/13
0.83 million (-15% change).
Season average: 0.99 million.
Clearly, it is not averaging 1.3 million. It actually hasn’t even reached 1.3 million viewers (except in Siffy’s PR Releases apparently).
Lost Girl is a flop (at least on Siffy), but for some reason, we keep reading it’s a uge hit… Why?
You couldn’t be anymore wrong if you tried lost girl is one of the best shows syfy has had since eureka its sexy ,funny and very syfy ive loved several syfy shows that have been canceled so i hope there not foolish enough to cancel lost girl or warehouse 13 they need to lose all the dumb reality shows and let us have that wonderful science fiction world we all love escaping into
Im in the dismal UK… There isn’t even a channel here that shows LG – yet ive made it a household name amongst my friends… heck, I don’t even have a tv but I still heard about the show, tracked it down and have been been an avid fan since then x absolutely love it, I can only hope that the UK eventually hop onboard and start airing it! Ive seen a lot worse in cgi levels, production costs, acting skills and scripting. .. but somehow the UK have decided to air those poor shows anyway – PLEASE, OH PLEASE air LG!!!!! THE SHOW CAN DO NO WRONG xx (wonders if the viewing figures also take into account online viewing or just channel receivers?)
Why on earth do you have so much time on your hands that you can afford to sit around and hate on other peoples enjoyment? If you don’t like the channel-fine, if you don’t like the shows- great. Do the rest of us a favor and stop harping about it, find a site about something you do like (if such a thing exists) and go comment there
