EXCLUSIVE: The Office alumna Melora Hardin is set to play the boss in another workplace comedy. Hardin has been tapped as the female lead in TBS’ comedy pilot Do It Yourself. James Widdoes (TBS’ Sullivan & Son, Men At Work) has signed on to direct the multi-camera pilot written by Walt Becker and Rob Long. Do It Yourself tells the story of Nick, a 20-something laid-off math teacher who finds himself thrust into the blue collar world when he gets a job at that most American of retail institutions: the big box home supply store. Nick quickly becomes the de facto leader of his band of misfit coworkers while also figuring out ways to redefine what it means to be a teacher. Hardin will play Nick’s boss Kate, who is paranoid, irrational and drunk on power, in other words, a typical store manager. The casting reunites Hardin with TBS where she recently co-starred on The Wedding Band. Hardin, repped by the Kohner Agency, Framework Entertainment and Bob Myman, is best known for her role as Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell) no-nonsense Dunder Mifflin supervisor, regional manager Jan Levenson.

Melora Hardin is a total hottie. And talented…
Yes. Melora was the only good thing about ‘Wedding Band.’ Glad to see her put to good use.
Walt Becker and multi-cam. You know this is going to scream quality.
Much talent named in this article. Hope it doesn’t get “networked.”
Sounds a bit like typecasting. Still, Hardin is always a lot of fun, so I’ll keep my eye on this.
Melora is one of the most talented actresses out there. What she did in The Office is the tip of the iceberg. She also has a golden voice!
Yay Melora!!! Great news for you and better news for Walt and Rob – Congrats all!!
We look forward to more of Melora! She is so talented as an actress and an amazing singer!
Great!!
Melora is my cousin and she is so talented i love her very much she is gorgeous too I have watched her growing up and have loved every moment
Melora – we love you!
Jan Levinson was/is the best! The Office was never better than when Jan and Michael were going at it. Jan and her candles; my favorite Office episode – ‘Dinner Party’ (season 4.13):
Michael: Man I would love to burn your candles!
Jan: You burn it you buy it!
Michael: Oh good! I’ll be your first customer!
Jan: You’re hardly my first.
Michael: THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID!!
Looking forward to seeing Melora on this new TBS series – she is terrific.
Also, I just noticed Melora’s cousin Melinda wrote a nice post. Very nice.
