EXCLUSIVE: Miguel Ferrer is getting a major promotion on NCIS: LA. Ferrer, who joined the series as a recurring midway through last season, is being upped to regular effective next fall. He also will be joining the proposed NCIS: LA spinoff, which will start off as an episode of NCIS: LA airing later this season. Ferrer will be regular on both shows, reprising his role as NCIS Assistant Director Owen Granger. Crossing over characters from the mothership series to a spinoff is a popular strategy at CBS. NCIS‘ Rocky Carroll, who also plays top NCIS brass in NCIS Director Leon Vance, recurred heavily on NCIS: LA early on. And Kirsten Vangsness juggled both Criminal Minds and its spinoff, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, during the 2010-11 season. Crossing Jordan alum Ferrer is repped by Innovative.

One of the best voices in showbusiness. Miguel Ferrer has always been a solid actor.
Good to see Miguel return to the small screen.
I would like to see him be the leader on the NCIS LA Spinoff show.
Yay Miguel!!!!
I would have also preferred that he’d been in charge of NCIS during Vance’s absence; but a girl can’t have everything.
I liked Miguel in Crossing Jordan. His character Owen in NCIS is usually deadpan melodramatic which clashes with the light-hearted cast. I hope that Owen lightens up a bit.
Now the spinoffs are spinning off…
They’ve still got a’ways to go ’til they beat All in the Family and Happy Days.
Very cool news about Miguel being in both shows. He has such a great presence when he’s in a scene. You just have to watch him….
Sorry to say, but ncis la has lost its mojo, not coincidentally with the arrival last season of the highly overrated miquel ferrer. He could never even tie his daddy’s shoelaces. Been acting the same since Robocop.CONSTIPATED. Linda Hunt keeps threatining to leave.. Well anyone except Ferrer. Series killer
Barry, it sounds like you’ve got a bone to pick with the series and with Ferrer… Interesting how you bash a show that’s obviously been doing well enough in the ratings to not only warrant a spin off, plus the fact that producers and the audience / fans of the show think enough of Ferrer’s abilities to add him as a series regular on Both shows.
As for Linda Hunt, her Character has threatened to leave, Not Her the actress. This adds drama to the series… Don’t you know how popular her character is to the fans of the show ?? Obviously not. She, the actress, would never leave.
Lastly, as for Miguel, take a look at his credits on IMDB, which is not even a complete list. It speaks for itself. Looks like he’s been doing just fine for decades, not to mention his extremely successful side career as a voice over actor for over 25 years, voicing countless movie trailers and promos, which are not even listed on IMDB. It’s pretty obvious a lot of people think pretty highly of him and his various talents.
I actually watched Crossing Jordan for Miguel. He is a great actor and incredibly watchable. Looking forward to seeing him again on the small screen.
