Irish actress Victoria Smurfit (Bulletproof Monk) has been cast in the upcoming NBC/Sky Living HD drama series Dracula starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The series re-introduces Dracula (Meyers) as he arrives in London, posing as American entrepreneur Alan Grayson who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with Mina Murray (Jessica De Gouw) who appears to be the reincarnation of his dead wife. Smurfit, repped by UTA, the Collective and UK’s United Agents, will play the lithe and beautiful Lady Jayne who is instantly attracted to Grayson and pursues him. Also previously cast in the series are Katie McGrath and Nonso Anozie. Based on a script by co-executive producer Cole Haddon, Dracula is executive produced by Colin Callender, Tony Krantz, Gareth Neame and Dan Knauf for Universal Television.
After setting its oldest star, James Caan, whose deal is being finalized, ABC’s Cullen brothers single-camera comedy pilot has cast its youngest. Private Practice alum Griffin Gluck has joined the multi-generational family comedy, from 20th Century Fox TV. It centers on Terry Gannon, a recently divorced single mother who temporarily moves in with her estranged father (Caan), a beer-swilling former baseball player. She reluctantly starts coaching her son Tommy’s (Gluck) underdog Little League team and is drawn back into the world of sports she vowed to leave behind. In addition to writing, the Cullen brothers are executive producing with Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment.

Dracula & most of Nbc’s programming have something in common as they both tend to suck.
Exactly. How will Dracula get his revenge against ppl who wronged him centuries ago when they’re dead? Drac is going to target his enemies’ far distant descendants? That makes so much sense. They probably have 1/128 DNA from their ancestors.
That’s it. Get all these vampire shows out of your system now so that we can move on to more inspired programming.
The Vampire Genre is not going any where. Hopefully this Dracula wont “sparkle”
Wonderful actress, especially on Trial &Retribution.
Another day, another announcement about a new vampire show. I guess even good old Dracula isn’t safe.
Hopefully, this won’t be a “sensitive” vampire. There has been enough of this “touchy feely getting in touch with our feelings” type of vampires. I want a vampire who’ll just bite your fuckin’ ass & be done with it!!!
actually off all the vampire shows this 1 sounds the best and doesn’t sound like a teen show .
