Glee and Boss alum Jonathan Groff has landed a lead role in HBO’s comedy pilot executive produced by David Marshall Grant, Sarah Condon and Andrew Haigh. Haigh will direct the untitled pilot based on Michael Lannan’s feature script Lorimer. It revolves around three thirty-something friends living in San Francisco who grapple with all the options in contemporary life and the complexities of the modern gay experience. Groff plays an intelligent, witty, well-educated gay video game developer.
CBS is going down to the wire with the casting of its planted NCIS: LA spinoff, which begins filming on Monday. Gillian Alexy has landed a regular role in the project, which starts off an episode of NCIS: LA airing later this season titled “Red”. The spinoff stars John Corbett and follows a mobile team of agents who are forced to live and work together as they crisscross the country solving crimes. Alexy will play Special Agent Claire, educated, worldly, athletic and as tough as she is beautiful. She has a law degree from Harvard, a Masters Degree in international politics and fluency in a smattering of languages. She topped her class in both the offensive and defensive driving course at Quantico, she’s trained with the Navy SEALS and loves all things military. Alexy, repped by Stone Manners Salners and Kyle Luker, was a regular on the final season of Damages.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

“She has a law degree from Harvard, a Masters Degree in international politics and fluency in a smattering of languages. She topped her class in both the offensive and defensive driving course at Quantico, she’s trained with the Navy SEALS and loves all things military.” Good Lord. Is this a character description, or a bio ripped off of Eharmony’s website? Terrible.
A lot of “known” actors being cast in the NCIS:LA spin-off pilot, unlike NCIS:LA where only the two leads were well known and the rest of the supporting players were actors that didn’t really do anything of note before hand.
Bravo to HBO for actually casting a talented American Gay actor. Lets hope they fallow through with the other parts as well.
Groff is a good actor. This is one bad script though.
Okay HBO so far one good actor. But if you know what’s good for you you’ll make it your business to cast at least one person of color in this trio. GIRLS already overlooked this issue with their choice for series regulars! You’d be stupid to make the same mistake, especially on a gay-interest show.
i read the script and there are two latino guys, a black guy, and an asian guy in the show. so i think the people of “color” are covered.
