EXCLUSIVE: I hear NBC has trimmed the order for summer dramedy series Camp from 13 to 10 episodes. The project, from the Deception team of creator/executive producer Liz Heldens and Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun’s production company BermanBraun, was created by Heldens and Deception co-executive producer Peter Elkoff. In the tradition of Meatballs and Dazed And Confused, Little Hawk Family Camp is a wicked slice of lake-side heaven. In the one-hour dramedy, parents decompress with gin while teenagers make gleeful mischief and fall in and out of love. The decision was driven by scheduling needs as the project is still in pre-production.

Why does a summer camp show involve parents? Who the hell goes to family camp? Who thought that would be an interesting spin?

This show only sold because Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun somehow weazled it down NBCs throats. Terrible premise, sounded unwatchable for 4 episodes let alone 10 or 13. Cannot wait to see this show get canned after it’s opening episode.

This is one project I just don’t get. Read it once and thought it was awful. Read it again and thought still awful. Hopefully I read an early draft.
The script has been floating around for years. You read the same one they’re shooting, and it is boring. Bob G is a sucker.

“Scheduling needs” is the reason the order’s reduced from 13 to 10?! I don’t buy it. There’s 16-plus weeks between the May sweeps and the Fall launch, so plenty of programming/scheduling opportunities if “Camp” is any good.

Idiots in charge = NBC = NO BODY CARES!
In June, NBC will carry the NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals, and it will likely pre-empt up to seven nights of prime-time.
It’s possible that two (or even three) scheduled airing of “Camp” (depending on when it gets scheduled) might be pre-empted.
The sooner that Hollywood gets out of the Berman business the better.
Fair play to the creators of show tossed under the bus by idiocy from the studio and hiring a movie casting person in US who knows zero about TV and Aussie talent . They and there show deserved better don’t listen to the haters. Ive read for every pilot almost this is a better one.Cheers from an Aussie who appreciates the faith in our talentted actors and crews, prove em wrong..
