love Seth but this sucks. if that’s the quality of writing we’ll be seeing, God help us all
Besides, no one ever stirs a martini? Studies have shown that shaking bruises the gin (especially), and most likely vodka as well, so shaking is not recommended. Now, Fleming got that wrong, but that is so signature that we just go with it. But for the bartender (supposedly of a high-class establishment) to not know this is just unacceptable.
actually that was funny.
A joke is generally funny when it plays with the truth or expectations in some way.
This was doing the former and was completely wrong. While it’s passe today — thanks to James Bond as a matter of fact — vodka martinis used to be stirred. That was the NORM, especially in your more old-school establishments.
Overall, I look forward to MacFarlane’s lazy, misogynistic, hateful comedy which was only tempered and creatively balanced, and improved, thanks to staffers Fox forced onto his shows.
Yes, the martini “joke” reveals the lack of knowledge among some comedy writers. Look at just about ANY old film (often comedy), or an episode of “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” for that matter, and you’ll see those martinis stirred every time – and with gin. And if one more bartender brings me my “up, with olives” request as a nasty “dirty” martini, I will cut them. Not only is it an abomination in the now standard vodka martini, it is undrinkable to mix gin and olive juice. And try ordering one “Gibson”…you will witness eyeballs roll into the server’s head. I doubt that any of them lived through Prohibition, when many-a-recipe changed…
Aren’t the Oscars supposed to be bigger than a schmuck animator wannabe comedic celebrity? i cant wait for him to just go away…
That’s ‘Academy Award Nominated Schmuck Animator Wannabe Comedic Celebrity’ to you.
Somebody seems a little jealous…
‘Wannabe comedic celebrity’ even though his shows are all over Fox and created the highest grossing R-rated comedy film.
Yeah.. What a wannabe
Yeah, this is going to be painful.
Actually…as Jed Barlet states “Shaken, not stirred, will get you cold water with a dash of gin and dry vermouth. The reason you stir it with a special spoon is so not to chip the ice. James is ordering a weak martini and being snooty about it. “
All six actors who played Bond are supposed to be there but I’ll be surprised if Connery shows up. I’d love to see him but I don’t know if he’ll fly all the way here for one minute on stage.
Especially with his love/hate (mostly hate) for the Bond franchise. Also Connery is like a recluse for the most part now I thought I read.
Still not going to watch the show – havent in like 4 years or more. Maybe because I’m older and the age of instant information the ceremony doesn’t hold the same glamour and fun anymore. I’ll probably read Nikki’s recap – that is always good for a laugh or two.
Lame.
Agree. Lame.
signed,
every animator in Hollywood
It’s not Seth’s writing, it’s the lame-ass heads of the promo department who think they are “creative.”
