Robbie Amell has landed the lead role in the CW drama pilot The Tomorrow People. Written/exec produced by Phil Klemmer based on the cult British series, exec produced by Julie Plec and Greg Berlanti and directed/exec produced by Danny Cannon, Tomorrow People revolves around several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution and work together to defeat the forces of evil. Amell, repped by ICM Partners, Coast To Coast and Protege Entertainment, will play Stephen, a tormented man who longs to be normal and is relieved when he learns that he’s not crazy but rather part of a group of genetically superior “Tomorrow People.”
Party Down and Veronica Mars alum Ryan Hansen will co-star opposite Ari Graynor in Bad Teacher, CBS’ single-camera comedy series adaptation of the 2011 movie. Written by Hilary Winston, directed by Don Scardino and produced by the film’s Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, the pilot centers on hot, confident, unapologetic former trophy wife Meredith Davis (Graynor), who becomes a teacher to find a new man after her husband leaves her without a dime. Gersh-repped Hansen will play the shorts-wearing athletics coach at the school, a version of the character played in the movie by Jason Segel. He recurs on CBS’ 2 Broke Girls and was the lead in Fox’s comedy pilot El Jefe last season.
Treme’s Kim Dickens has been cast opposite Jason Lee in Second Sight, CBS‘ drama pilot from Michael Cuesta and Carol Mendelsohn. Based on the 2000 British series, Second Sight is a gothic psychological thriller about Tanner (Lee), the lead detective with the New Orleans Police Department who is concealing a troublesome secret — he has an ocular disorder that causes him to have horrifying and visually stimulating anxiety dreams and hallucinations. Gersh-repped Dickens will play Sammy, a detective on the right-knit team. Cuesta is directing the pilot from a script he wrote with his brother Gerald. Michael Cuesta, Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, Paula Milne and Nick Reed exec produce.
Ashton Holmes (Revenge) and Lou Taylor Pucci have been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Reckless. Written/exec produced by Chris Black and directed/exec produced by Martin Campbell, the thriller centers on David, a resourceful problem solver who, when his wife Sarah (Eloise Mumford) is unjustly imprisoned during a political uprising overseas, resorts to entering a world of political intrigue, dangerous alliances and high emotional stakes in order to get her out. Holmes will play Wyatt, an acquaintance of David’s from college who puts him in contact with a mercenary. Pucci plays Ryan, Sarah’s brother.

I’m not sure I like what they’re doing with “Bad Teacher”. It was about aging but still hot woman trying to find a wealthy man to marry and the PE teacher looked like everyday guy. But this version has young woman in leading role and handsome guy as PE teacher. It was perfect as it was, they should have leave it the same.
congrats to robbie! one of the nicest and most talented guys you’ll meet.
If Tomorrow People gets picked up who will they cast to replace him on season two of 1600 Penn?
HA! 1600 Penn isn’t getting a second season.
wow, just wow! Does Berlanti have a thing for the Canadian Amell boys? This kid is from the scooby doo video and was so bland. This is sketchy to say the least. The politics and inside favoritism in this business is disgusting. What ever happened to the best person for the job?
Jaselle, please, Hollyweird is all about nepotism. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Pointing to his Scooby Doo days? Really? I would normall agree with you about the nepotism but Robbie Amell is actually talented. I’ve seen several of his auditions. And he’s great on Penn!
I dont care for the CW but I really like Robbie Amell in everything I’ve seen him in. He’s gorgeous and can handle dramatic and comedic roles with grace. I think they cast a great actor, I just hope the show does him justice.
Way to go Robbie Amell.. You rock!
Jaselle clearly Robbie is the BEST person for this role in The Tomorrow People hands down! he is a very talented actor if you really looked at his work you would see that!.
The casting keeps getting better and better for Bad Teacher. Love that pilot and its cast.
