EXCLUSIVE: The SXSW sales climate is no Sundance, but last year more than two dozen features struck deals out of the annual Austin festival. Kevin and Michael Goetz’s thriller Scenic Route is one SXSW 2013 pic that will court buyers when it premieres March 8. It’s being repped by Anonymous Content. A mohawk-sporting Josh Duhamel (Safe Haven) and Dan Fogler (Fanboys) star as old buddies whose friendship is tested when their truck breaks down, stranding them in the desert. Kyle Killen (Lone Star, The Beaver) wrote the script. Brion Hambel and Paul Jensen, who produced SXSW 2011 winner Natural Selection, also produced Scenic Route with Luke Rivett and Scott Freeman. Here’s the trailer premiere:

Hmmm…. A movie that’s 95% two guys talking. And yet, the trailer shows zero dialogue… Hmmmmm…
Paul Walker is a poor man’s Josh Duhamel and Josh Duhamel is poor man’s Bradley Cooper.
Is this a comedy?
Exactly. I’m really overweight myself but a guy with a mohawk beating up a fat guy (with a plunger?) is comedic gold, intentional or not.
Interesting showing the very end of the film to sell it.
I think the bloom is off Killen’s rose. He’s proven himself to be not too talented or nice. This film ought to be the nail in the coffin.
